Throughout this whole wedding process it seems that people never fail to surprise me and not in a good way?

i won't go there. My FH is ready to rip into a friend of mine. She is nice and all, but not a good friend. We know she is dead broke and in an on/off relationship with a guy, so we invited her alone. She responded with the guy on there, although no quests was invited. Ok, we dealt with it. Then yesterday, she leaves a message 'me and x broke up, so i need to change the invitation. I am going with someone, I just have to find someone' We had other good ones like that. My mother won't get involved with anything. I had the dress fitting and hair trial this weekend and she had no interest and my sister MOH is pregnant with twins and can't be there. OH the BS doesn't stop. But there are the friends that will there.

not so much that it brings out the worst but people have definitely surprised me. a few people in a very bad way, a few people in a very good way
it's a really good way to see who your true friends are

*sigh* yes..BUT it also brings out a beautiful side to see in some of our friends, so the off set to the bad is way better!

I have been wondering about this a lot. I think it is power, people have the power to be helpful or harmful, and it brings things out.

I know exactly what you mean. I asked my 'good friend' to be in my bridal party. She had just gotten married herself. She told me she couldn't because she has to pay off her $100,000 wedding and it would be too much money for her to be in my party. Meanwhile, she just went on an Alaskan Cruise for her 1 year anniversary. She bought a new car and she had her house renovated. She even made a stink about paying for my share of the hotel room for the bachelorette party but she wanted her own room because it would be too tight. The rooms were $288 apiece. Whatever!

My mom told me this a few weeks ago - you find out who your true friends are when it comes to weddings and funerals - how true it is!

Yes...weddings bring out the best and worst in people and you do find out who your friends are but sadly sometimes you learn things about your family that can be devastating!! Trying to deal with this right now.

My DOC said that Weddings bring out the worst in people because weddings are filled with emotions, There are so many emotions that people feel and things can get out of control because not all those emotions are good and positive.
