Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

I saw the video last night and I was struck by:

a) how the video has nothing to do with the song (but ok, that happens a lot)

and

b) how unimaginative it was - she didn't add anything to the scenes - they were exactly the same as in the movie

She is soooo overrated!

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

You mean J. Ho
She cannot come up with her own ideas so she used Flashdance. I heard she HAD to wear the exact costume that was worn in the movie, but they had to add panels to accomdate for her 'shape'

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

I thought it was cool and I think she did a great job re-creating it.

Am I the only one that thinks she looks great?
Why does everybody think she's 'big' or 'fat' or have a 'bad shape'? She's got curves! More power to her!

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie. I think they are remaking it and she will star in it.

I don't dislike her, I just truly do not understand what all the fuss is about. It's overkill.

You guys say you don't know what all the fuss is about, but here you are 'fussing' over her.

As for the whole changing the tags in her clothes, do you believe everything you hear on the radio? Especially stations like Z100? C'mon, they're on-air tabloids!

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

She wanted to recreate the scene's b/c it marked an era & she thought it was fantastic (her interview on MTV) although, the song didn't have anything to do w/ the video... but it did have to do w/the theme of the entire movie. I hope they do not recreate it.
I don't like her, but she's smart! She definitely knows how to get what she wants!

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

Here's an article on the video from MTV.com

The good news about Jennifer Lopez's homage to 'Flashdance' in her 'I'm Glad' video is that she's apparently so impressive that the studio behind the 1983 film is talking with the actress about a remake.

The bad news is Paramount Pictures is also threatening J. Lo's label with copyright infringement claims. Lopez's dance sequences in the video are so similar to the moves Jennifer Beals' double performs in the movie that the studio feels it should be compensated.

A spokesperson for Epic Records said the issue is being settled and had no further comment.

J. Lo's spokesperson said 'Flashdance' is one of her favorite movies and that the 'I'm Glad' video is meant to pay tribute to the film (see 'J. Lo Is Jenny From The Past In Clip For 'I'm Glad' ').

Lopez is currently shooting 'An Unfinished Life' with Robert Redford and 'Cider House Rules' director Lasse Hallström (see 'Robert Redford Joins Cast Of J. Lo's Next Movie Project'). Morgan Freeman and Josh Lucas have recently signed on to the production.

The future Mrs. Ben Affleck will appear next with her fiancé in 'Gigli,' which hits theaters August 1.

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

I thought there might be legal issues w/ this!
We work in advertising where we have to license everything we use and pay mega $$$$ for it!
Just b/c she's a celebrity does not excuse her to just bite the idea! ha! that made me laugh, thanks!

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

You all missed the whole point. You know how hard it is to replicate the dance moves exactly in flash dance. That was the whole point of the video. She worked real hard to ge it to perfection.

Re: Why is Jennifer Lopez acting out Flashdance scenes in her latest video?

I agree with dgtlsunshine that the re-creation is great -almost flawless. However, I don't see how it relates to the song.

As to her body, I have no shame. I wouldn't mind having that body.
