Why is my mother such a witch?

Original post by MichelleW

We finally bought our own home and are moving this Saturday My monther acts as though she could care less that we are moving to LI from Westchester. I guess she is Pi$$ed becasue she won't see our son as often. Her only comments about the house were yeah it's ok and she just called me to ask when I am getting the crib out of her attic, meanwhile she knows we have struggled with miscarriages and problems getting pregnant.

Thanks for letting me vent

I'm sorry she's being so disinterested. I, on the other hand, am VERY interested!!! I want you and Steve and Brandon to have dinner with Patrick and me as soon as the **** LT's test is over and he is ready to be social. I can't wait till you are HERE!

Sorry to hear that your mom is not happy about your move. Give her some time, and hopefully she will come around.

Hey girlie!! are your mother and my mother related??? Hmmmm just cause they are Mother's don't make em' 'MOM's'

Sorry to hear this and yes she was insensitive about the crib, is she afraid it's going to burn a hole in her addict?? Geez it could be worse you could be moving to Florida or something

Hey, I'm out of the hospital a month ,pregnant and bedridden and my Mother offered to pay for 'help' haven't seen her....geez

kick her in the shins

If mothers arent being witches then they arent doing there jobs.

I've come to the conclussion I get along so much better with my mom when I dont live with my parents. I live with FI and every time I go to my parents place I could be there for 5 minutes and its a brawl with my mom.

I still say kick her in the shins.

She'll get over it

Sorry you have to go through this. Enjoy your new house and post lots of pic's when you are settled

Re: Why is my mother such a witch?

Hey wait a minute.... I am a mom and not a witch! Just ask my kids . I only bring out my broom for special occasions. As a matter of fact my son's friends often ask if I will adopt them. My house has always been the hang out house!

Back to the serious stuff. Michelle I am so sorry that your Mom is being witchy when she should be so happy for you right now. It s*cks! Don't let her *****iness ruin your joy and excitement. Sure it is tough to have your grandchild move away but no reason at all to do that stuff to you. Everyone here is happy for you. And if you want I will adopt you too ! I make great chocolate chip cookies.

Re: Michelle-FM

I'm not going to say anything mean about your mom, because hopefully this too shall pass...

But I just wanted to share something with you about my mom. When I was in college, it didn't matter what, even if I got the best grades I could have imagined, my mom would start a fight with me. To the point where I would cry out of complete anger and frustration. Years later, when we talked about it (always easier to talk about it when you're no longer living it), she explained that it hurt her so much to watch me leave, that it was just easier for her to argue with me and let me leave with her angry. Then she didn't have to get sad in front of me.

I am thinking maybe this is similar (of course I could be wrong). Maybe it really hurts her to see you leave. And although Westchester isn't that far away, it's not 15 min. either. Maybe this is her way of dealing with her pain. I'm not saying it's the right way, it just might be HER way. I'm sure deep down she is veryhappy for you. Try and concentrate on the great things going on right now, and hopefully things will come around!! Personally, I'm VERY happy for you!!!!

Re: Michelle-FM

I do too, we have never had a great relationship, I think part of it is becasue she had me at 18 and feels like she missed out on things

I think what hurt me the most was the crib issue..after having a few miscarriages this year the last thing on my mind is a crib

Re: Michelle-FM

Absolutely. She should be a lot more sensitive in general, but especially regarding such a painful issue. It is certainly not your fault that she was young when she had you. It's very unfair to take it out on you, especially now that you've got so many good things happening in your life. It sounds like she's saying things to hurt you on purpose. I hope that you will focus on your new home & take pride in what you've accomplished! You deserve only the best.

Im sure that was her evil twin missing you that was talking. The old - Well if you are going to move away from me take all your $##@ with you. - attitude. It just happend to be the crib that was mentioned, but it would have been any item you had stored at her house.

Re: Michelle-FM

Yeah, I would say that was insensitive and intentionally so. I'm sure that is top priority in her life, cleaning up the attic!

Sometimes the one's closest to us (blood related) can be the one's who cause us the most pain.

Don't let her ruin your special moment - that's what she wants to do. She should be supportive and excited for you and if she's not, then the H*LL with her. You can't win for trying with some people.

The best to you guys on your new home. It's going to be great!!
