so i sold the first gown I bought to a girl that I work with. I put that gown up for sale because i fell in love with the gown I will now be wearing to my April wedding. The day after I sold it to her, I ordered my new gown. That was October. I just got a phone call from her that she has to postpone her wedding and she said money is tight and she wanted to know if there was 'anything i can do'. Obviously there isn't. What can I do? The wedding is in 68 days, and my gown is being ordered and (luckily for her??) I had to exchange her gown for a bigger size and that is due in a few weeks. I feel terrible because I work with her...she was probably just calling as a last resort.....but seriously, I feel awful now! I gave the dress to her for $300 less then what I paid and included a viel, shoes, and a slip. So that basically saved her a total of about $500-600. I told her to put the dress up on Ebay and craigslist....any other suggestions girls??? I want to help her...but the money she gave me is now invested in my new gown

Re: why me???
Just tell her you're really sorry about her having to postpone the wedding, but there is no way you can give her back the money since you already bought another dress. Craiglist and ebay are great suggestions. Tell her to even post on the 2009 board and the knot.

yea what can you do? its ok to feel bad but DO NOT stress yourself out about this or let her make you feel guilty...she made that decision...

Re: why me???
I know, I feel bad though bc I work with her and I don't want her to struggle. I just hope that when she gets the gown she can sell it or something and make another bride really happy, and make herself a little more comfortable with the $$ she gets. She didn't postpone for bad reasons, she's still getting married. I'm trying to think of other options, I told her about all the websites I can think of....

Re: why me???
Tell her to come on LIW and read what you wrote since it is true.. Just tell her how you feel and that there is nothing you can do since you are getting married in less than 70 days! I am sure she will understand but was jus giving it a try!

Re: why me???
Why does she have to sell the dress because she's postponing the wedding? I think she should hold onto it and figure out what she wants to do with it on her own...don't feel guilty..

Re: why me???
i would tell her that you are sorry but you cant give her the money back bc then you will be stuck with the dress and you already spent the money she gave you.

Re: why me???
no no no....i already spoke to her about it and told her that I was sorry and that there was nothing I can do about it. I was just looking for suggestions more or less for HER about how and where she can sell the dress. For whatever her reasons may be, she can really use the $$ now (maybe that is why they have to postpone, i don't know). I don't need her to come here and read what I wrote, I already told her that I feel very sorry and that I am really upset that she is going through this now, but that there was nothing I can do. I didn't know if anyone had any websites or other suggestions above what I already told her....I'm trying to help her.....this isn't a vent
