WHY NOW???

WHY NOW???

I went for a facial today at the Red Door Salon/Spa. I absolutley LOVE this place!!! I was going initially for a classic facial which includes extractions (much needed). Unfortunately, I was told the news that I was dreading. YEP...I have a mild case of acne, and cystic pimples!!! WHY NOW??!!!??? Unfortunately, my father (R.I.P.) had REALLY bad acne, and it looks like now I'm inheriting it. At the age of 34 ***???!!!??? She did a glycolic peel on me along w/the facial after the extractions...and OMG my face was on FIRE!!! However..it feels so much smoother now and although it's red it looks alot better!! I have to go back for a few more treatments..and am really hoping this helps the breakouts I've been having. I never really suffered from 'acne'..just a pimple here and there. However, lately I've noticed a SEVERE change in my skin. I'm going to go 'vegetarian' until the wedding..to see if this helps w/my skin as well. Sorry girls..I just needed to vent. I swear if this goes away after the wedding I am going to be P'O'd!!!!

Keep moisturizing!!! I have been using Oil of Olay sensitive skin lotion since I was 11 and I swear it keeps my skin SOOO healthy!! Especially in the hot weather!!

Also, are you on the pill? That can make a difference in your skin too. And just wash your face 3x a day at least.

But be careful about overwashing - that can aggravate acne - my skin can't handle it and overwashing or over-exfolliating just makes my skin worse.

My advice would be to drink lots and lots of water. I can notice a difference in a matter of days - those weeks when I'm good and drink a giant bottle and then some every day, my skin is great. Those weeks where I'm lazy with the water, I break out.

Yeah I was told to drink nothing but water for the next weeks leading up to the wedding. I'm a Pepsi lover..and have to have at least 1 glass a day...but I am going to try and do what I was told because I defenitely do not want my face getting worse!!

Re: WHY NOW???

I started developing a case of acne, including the cystic kind (OUCH!!), in my early to mid-twenties. Knowing I was getting married pushed me to finally see a dermotologist. Boy, did it make a difference. He put my on Retin-A and some benzoyl peroxide pads.

One of the things I added on my own that made a world of difference was this facial cleanser called M.D. Forte. It has a significant percentage of glycolic acid, which helps exfoliate your skin and keep it clear. I started with the level II cleanser and eventually moved to level III. I have recommended this line of products to several friends, all of whom are now faithful believers. I would give it a try.

Why don't you go see a dermatologist? He/she could probably help you before it (maybe) gets out of control.

I did see one, and he told me I needed to get extractions done (which I did). However, he was referring to extractions w/a lancer which leaves marks on your face. He also recommended creams, but they didn't work. I'm going to see how this goes.

This is excellent advice - these 2 things definitely will help your skin!
