so while i was at the dentist today the girl asked me how many carats my ring was! i HATE that - why do people ask that? it makes me sooooo uncomfortable.....i should have just lied and said its 5 carats!

I got that once too!! But she was asking me like a million and one inappropriate questions that i just got so pissed off, that i turned around and said 'Let's just say I am wearing a car on my finger' I haven't spoken to her since!!!

o I hate that..my supervisor asked me that twice this week, and i didn't answer her..you think she would have gotten the picture..people always think my ring is bigger than it really is...lol so i lie sometimes but honestly its no body elses business..its ridiculous to think thats all that people care about..who cares about the size of a diamond..that doesn't say your marriage is going to be any better or worse than anyone elses

someone asked me that at work when i first got engaged and i was stunned and like a deer in head lights & blurted out 2 carats, i was so mad later that i told her anything

i just wonder why they ask - i would NEVER think of asking someone - yeah i might wonder to myself when i see a nice ring but i would never actually ask the person! im always so caught off guard and i get really embarrased - next time im going to be rude and sarcastic and just say its 5 carats

No seriously it is a bit rude. Mine isnt that big (and small fingers) but only my friends asked about the size. It would be weird if a coworker or someone random asked.
One of my friends has a nice size ring and we always ask her the size and she says she doesnt know and to ask her DH! She is the type that might not really know!
OK ALSO....some people are so rude when they ask your salary or FH salary. A few of my friends have done this. ***?!?!?!

People are obnoxious, that's why! I HATE when people ask me that and I've even had people ask me how much it cost FH lol
I often get, 'How much is your wedding costing you', 'How much did you pay for your house' and 'How much do you make' by acquaintances and some other people. I think that people are just getting dumber, really.

yep I get that alot also..everyone calls my fh 'money bags'..im not kidding..people just assume he is loaded because he sometimes splurges on nice things..and now with buyign our house..its gotten even worse...its soooooo rude

try this... a girl on line for food at the rangers game at msg in front of my turned to me and said 'OMG how many carats is that thing?!' So i said 'i dont know you would have to ask my fh who bought it for me.' So she said 'Ooo where is he??' i said 'he's around somewhere...hes the one in the rangers jersey.'
On another occasion, a woman in macys asked me if she could try my ring on. ummm what?!

OMG! another time a friends g/f made a comment about my ring! one of the girls said something about the wedding and this girl was like i didnt know she they were engaged (when she clearly knew because i met her the week i got engaged) so the other girl says well how could you miss her engagement ring - so the girl says 'well i didnt know, it could have been white topaz or something' *** is that about! she said it in earshot of me! FH heard it and was BEYOND PISSED!!! he was like why dont you tell her that you have a house down payment or a car on your finger - but it wasnt even worth it - i blew it off but boy were we pissed!!!
