This story is so incredibly sad!

This is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I felt like crying after reading this. These people are sick!!!!!

That is SO disgusting. How can people be so cruel????

I saw part of a press conference on the news this morning - how can someone from protective services say that this couple had everyone fooled without being afraid of the walls falling down around her????

Gimme a break!!

These kids went to church and NO ONE saw a thing? Hell you can't scream at a kid in public without cops breathing down your throat but you can starve your child? PLEASE?

This didnt happen overnight. More than just the social workers are to blame, although Im not sure firing them is the solution.

There are not enough Child Protective Service employees to handle the hundreds of caseloads. The public doesn't want to increase their salary since what do they REALLY do? Show up and check on kids, how hard can it be? Hard as hell! Understaffed, Underpaid, Overworked and not enough resources.

I blame myself and the public in general. We shouldn't allow this to happen. Im too young now but my father is a child advocate. He works to make sure kids have safe homes. He removes them when necessary. My kid brothers and sister are adopted.. I personally have been through those interviews. I also contribute what i can through the Sanctuary for Families every single month. Especially now that Im planning a wedding. I can't live with myself tossing cash at flowers and linen and know kids are starving, alone, abused and unwanted.

There's so many unwanted and abused children and then there's so many vindictive and mean children abusing the system.

It pisses me off that they say these kids went to church an NO ONE said a thing. BAH


I find it terrifing people allow themselves to ignore the pain and suffering of others!

Sorry to vent, but this is a subject entirely too close to heart.

These poor kids are going to spend their lives remembering locked rooms and horrible nights where they starved.

ETA: Oops, just re-read the article. It was the reverend's brother who said they didn't do anything malicious. The reverend does sing their praises though. So. Again. There you have it.

I do not know what was on their minds, but if they no longer wanted these children they should have just given them up. It is so sad.

These kids didnt stand a chance when they were born, now that they are alive or when they get older. The harm has already been done.

Social workers have to go thru so much red tape that half the time its easier to say nothing. And then you get this jackass minister that says everything was fine.

I understand what you're getting at but I don't agree. I actually feel bad for the real parents - I look at it this way. They know that they're fk ups (the real parents) and they try to do one thing right in their life, and that's giving their kid up for a chance at a normal life with people who'll love them and take care of them, and their kids wind up with psychotic people who are just supplementing their income by abusing children.

My aunt and my FMIL have taken in many foster kids, and both of them have been heartbroken because the 'system' took kids away from them because they were different races, even though they were clean, healthy and loved. These kids were starving to death and no one even paid attention. It's just not right.
