Why won't anyone match Burton's prices?

I live in VA, so I have been trying to find a place for my girls to buy their bridesmaids dresses by phone. They're Jim Hjelm dresses, and they're in the mid to high $200s at places like the Bridal Suite of Bayshore and Bridal Suite in Centereach, but $200 and below (I'm looking for 2 different dresses) at Burtons. Everytime I call stores that say they match any price, they say they don't match with Burtons. Burtons is kind of far for my girls to drive to, and now I'm wondering what is so bad about them that people won't match their price. Do they have knock-offs or something? The bridal boutique I called today said, 'We don't match prices with them for obvious reasons. We don't consider them our competitors'. I told her I've never been there so I don't know what she's talking about. She said, 'Go there and you'll see what I mean'. Since I can't go there, can you guys help me out before I send my girls there to buy dresses? I really don't want to make them spend so much more money.

some girl once posted on here 'burton's is a different kind of business' (this was said in a bad way). she did not offer to explain and i have no clue what she meant. some people were offended.

i'd recommend calling phyllis at bridal elegance - her price was the lowest i found for my BM gown and she has a GREAT reputation here.

Burton's is definetely a great place and I kinda like the fact that they don't advertise. You really get one on one attention there since it's so small.I've gotten BM dresses there in the past, my sister got her gown there and had an eh experience.I'm getting my flowers there as did my sister.

I went with BE also though, they offered me the most bang for my buck.

i'm getting my flowers there...they're not too far from my house and wcc, which is what i liked, plus their prices were great! i've been to several weddings where the flowers were from burtons and they were amazing!

i agree that they reason they might have lower dress prices is b/c they don't advertise and aren't really on any caterer/house vendor lists....the house they're in is a little beat up on the outside, but that shouldn't make or break your decision!

Thats weird cus as far as I have read on herre, Burtons is fine for dresses. I am only dealing with them for flowers, and i know they can give me the prices they are cus they have a special deal with their supplier. Maybe its the same thing for the dresses?
