Some doctors really are idiots and if they dont give you the answers you want then go get a second opinion and demand to get tests done on you.
My dad has been real sick for a week, he went to the doctor, which i don't like this doctor and never understood why my dad went to him. He did one test on my dad and thats it...for a week my dad has been having chest pains, he was real pale, and even walking to the bathroom would tire him out...now my dad is a person who is loud, always out and about so this was unusual...well last night my mother came upstairs to tell me my dad fainted so i ran downstairs. WHen he woke up he was very weak and didn't even have energy to talk. We called the ambulance and went to the hospital...they did a bunch of tests on him and one problem is that his cholesterol is insanely high...but the human body is supposed to have 16 quarts of blood and he only had 6 so he had to have a blood transfusion. He is feeling better now from that of course and got his color back and isn't dizzy or as weak...they have to still keep him for 24 hours bc after a transfusion they have to monitor you and now theyre going to run a bunch of tests on him.
The only thing his doc had given him were digestion pills, he should've kept on him and asked why they aren't doing more tests.

Denise I am glad to hear your dad is doing better -- I can only imagine how scared you must have all been.
Thank God he is doing better. Unfortunately there are so many of these stories out there.
Just this morning my coworker was telling me of a misdiagonis from her doctor (she has been ill for months and was out again all last week) and she hit the nail on the head with something her father told her ....
'It is called the 'PRACTICE of Medicine' for a reason.' Scary but true.
thank you so much
Yeah i am just glad my grandmother didn't wake up bc she would've freaked out, she cried just him being sick this week. Somehow she managed to sleep with about 8 firemen in my dads apartment and 2 EMS. My mother went to tell her this morning.
So very true

Wow...that is terrible! Some of these doctors don't care...they think they know it all, it's ridiculous!
At least your dad is feeling better now..hope he gets to go home soon!

oh wow! that's so scary! I always interrogate my parents after their doctors visits to make sure everything was covered.
I hope he feels better!!!

Omg I hope your dad gets better soon! I can't believe some doctors don't screen for everything, right when you started to describe the symptoms I knew it had to be something serious!

Re: why you should always ask your doctor questions
I am so glad he is ok, must have been very scary to see him like that. Did the Dr. even take his blood? If he did take his blood he may not have seen the blood level for a few days and if he wasnt actively bleeding or reporting chest pain at the Dr. visit then there may not be much to do emergently BUT if he didnt take/order blood at all then that is horrible and please do not go back to that Dr!!!

well my dad told the doctor hes had a bloody stool for a while, and not just a little bit either. I am not 100% sure what tests the doctor took last week except for the colonoscopy. And yeah that was his main thing, the chest pains that he complained to the doctor about.
I told him he needs to stop with that doctor and that hope he sees now how stupid that doctor is

Re: why you should always ask your doctor questions
My FMIL said to me to always have copies of medical records too. On too occasions they missed a cancer diagnosis by 2 years that should have been picked up. And she can't take any legal action because she is alive. It's always important to ask questions and educate yourself when it comes to health issues.
I hope your dad is back on his feet and doing well soon!

That's crazy!!!!!!!!!! But I totally agree with you, you must always get a second opinion for health concerns..A Dr. diagnosed my mom with Mono, well it turned out to be much worse and due to being mistreated got worse...She's OK now thank god, but I'll say a prayer for your Dad to have a speedy recovery.
