Ok... There was this thread this morning... In which some girl said that the gratuity didn't go to the staff... And that ppl should tip extra...
I commented on this thread that I thought this was untrue... b/c the wait staff ususally get paid per night a set fee... Not really based on tips...
But I can't seem to find the thread... Even when I search under my own name and I know I responded to it...
Could it just be gone? Like deleted??? Is that weird??? OR Does this happen if someone says something naughty.

I read in the paper the other day that someone was in trouble in the courts for doing that. I don't want to say who for fear that this post will dissappear. . but I read that post too, princess

My FH used to work for a catering hall on LI. He said the extra gratuity we pay does not go to the wait staff, they just get paid hourly

The probably did pull it. I can tell you though that I worked at a catering hall and you get paid a shift pay that has nothing to do with the gratuity the bride and groom pay that money goes to your matr'd no one else. Our standard pay per shift was $50-60. So it helped if people new to tip the waiters and waitresses otherwise we were paid by the hall(who does take taxes out of the $60 )just shift pay.

that's how it worked in the catering hall that I waitressed at for a few years...it was always awesome when a table tipped me! My father was a cab driver and a bartender, and so from the time I was a little girl, I always remembered him tipping heavy, and I was surprised when I started working in a catering hall that not a lot of people do it. Most people tip the bartenders, they have a tip cup on the bar-but it wasn't a given that I would get tipped by the guests I was serving.
