DH and I were forced to have vehicular sex. We would park at the beach, in orange fields, behind buildings..not the safest places. And on special occasions we would go to a seedy hotel Our parents knew we were doing it and did not allow it to take place in their homes. To me this is foolish. I want my kids safe.

we did that too. We were under 18, and both living at home. We found out later that FH's parents don't care.

I would never condone it. My parents didn't and I never had sex in an alley. Maybe a driveway once, but never in an alley
Honestly, I would never have been comfortable if my parents did allow it. I think it's totally disrespectful. DH and I STILL won't.

I agree......I would let them. I sleeping over my DH house at 18. Everyone knew what was going on.

NO! Never! Well maybe if they were say over 23-24 yrs old and living at home, I would allow a BF/GF to sleep over. But I wouldnt want to KNOW what was going on!
I slept out at a guys house( who lived with his parents) at around 20, and I myself felt weird at that stage. I had guys stay /pratically live with me when I was living at home...But still, We kept things as private as possible.
I think this is kind of how I feel. At a certain age I could deal with it as long as I didn't have to 'know'. But as far as teenages, NO way. My MIL let DH and I sleep together when we went back to visit but we hardley every did anything, just too wierd.

im not going to say ' hey kids you can go upstairs and pork now' but what they do when your not home you can not stop....and even if you tell them you can not have anyone in the house when im gone .Some kids may listen and other may do the sneak attack ..
but NO i would not let them do it and have my permission to.

I'm not a mom yet so I don't know for sure, but my first instinct is no. I wasn't allowed to do it in my parents' home and I'm not really sorry. Besides, I think having to find creative places added some fun to it.

i am not a mom yet but I'll base my answer off the way I grew up
#1 How old are they? I don't want to even THINK about the doing the groove when their 15! Now THAT's a double standard because I was and it was in my house!
#2 Yeah I voted boys but not girls. I remember my brother bringing home girls when no one was home (when I skipped school -bored). Dad knew and was ok with it. Saftey was the reasoning and I also think a little bit of the fact that I would tease my brother on the wide variety and number of women passing our threshhold.
Now Jim has a little sister and she had a guy over and it totally freaked us out. When his brother had a girl over it was weird but not uncomfortable.

1) age 2) Maturity
I'm not going to say - Hey, go have sex now - but if they're over 21 and visiting with a significant other, they can stay in the same room.
If they're teenagers - not out of HS, then NO. Door open at all times.
The double standard thing is freaky. Aren't most of us women on this site?

I think we have to make a distinction between letting them, as in lettign them sleep in the same bedroom with the door closed, and kind of turning a blind eye, and LETTING them, saying 'hey, sure, if you want to have sex, do it in my house'. There's a difference. I can't imagine telling my kids 'sure go ahead have sex in my house' but if they're over 18 and have a serious bf/gf, I'm probbay not going to make them sleep on the couch,

absolutely not. If they are responsible enough and mature enough to handle a sexual relationship then they should be responsible enough and mature enough to get their own place. Sorry, that's just how I feel.

Yup-To be honest-our kids will be able to do the same things we did-have sex in our parents homes drink, smoke-anything. It always kept us safe and we never felt the need to rebel-plus we rebeled more when we were younger, but definetly-as long as our children are safe with their own lives, and other's lives-do what you want.

You know what, my mom had a rude awaking when I was 14. The girl accross the street from us had her second child at my age! She was just a few months younger than myself. My mom saw that and bought a box of condoms and showed them to my brother marc and I. She told me that if I have sex, she wanted me to have it where I would be safe. She told me she didn't want me messing around with some guy and have him hurt me. She said do it at home and if he does something that isn't right you yell and someone will be there with a baseball bat. I choose to wait until I was 17. But I agree with my moms logic. You know what, I've heard so many horror of stories of girls being raped in woods, cars, parties etc... No means no and there are some guys who won't take no for answer. I rather my kids be safe than the latter. Yrs later, when I was in HS, some teacher was complaining to her class that her college daughter wanted to have unmarried sex in her house. I told her my mom didn't have a problem with it, she was shocked and said 'your mother allows unmarried sex in her house?' my answer 'my mom has unmarried sex in her house.'
