I don't think so. IIRC, the sacrament of marriage can only be done inside a church. I did a quick Google search and found an anecdote that a retired priest may do an outdoor ceremony, but even then it may be difficult to find one willing to do so. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Nope. If you want to have your wedding recognized by the RC Church, it must be held inside a church. There are a few exceptions for interfaith weddings about it not being in a church (I believe it must still be inside), but you will have a very hard time finding a priest who is in Communion with Rome who will do it.

No--my sister tried that and they would not do it--which makes no sense, cause we believe that God created the earth--whatever.

No - my uncle is a catholic priest and I begged him to perform the ceremony outside but said he couldn't!

I got married at Atlantica by a Catholic Priest. Got the church docs to prove it. MOST priests will not do it. Some will.

Oh. Sorry! I thought you were married by Father Bob Allmen. I know he is a reformed Catholic priest, but not a ROMAN Catholic priest, as I spoke to him re: marrying us.

There are definitely catholic priests that will do ceremonies outside. I had one booked until i was told that the marriage would not be recognized by the church unless the ceremony is done inside the church. So needless to say, i changed my plans and am getting married in the church.

My dad's cousin has been a Catholic Priest in Peru for 30 years. His time there has ended and we are hoping he will marry us at our outdoor ceremony. I'm waiting any day now to hear. I'm Protestant and my fiance is Catholic, so I don't really care if the RC church doesn't recognize it. I'm not very religious as you can see ![]()

In an interfaith marriage a priest will do it outdoors. The person gets a dispensation. We had a priest and rabbi do my daughters and it was beautiful and recognized by both the church and jewish faith.

When one says Catholic it is implied that they are a Roman Catholic priest. That being said in the United States, a Roman Catholic priest is not supposed to conduct marriage ceremonies outside of the church. In other countries Roman Catholic priests will perform marriages outside of the church for example Mexico due to the number of marriages that would like to be blessed by the Church there is not enough time or churches or not enough priests. The reason is that when you are married by the Catholic Church you do it in the church because the Eucharist that represents Christ is in the church and to remind you in the holiness and sanctity of marriage. That is why when you marry in the church you do it because you have faith and believe in this not because it would make for better pictures or because your parents want you to.

Yes, of course you can find a priest that will do it.
However, the sacrament of marriage is meant to be received inside the church. True Catholicism is quite strict. Most priest will not do this because the sacraments follow certain protocols and a marriage is to be performed inside the church...a wedding can be help outside though.

Yes you may find a Catholic Priest to perform your ceremony outside, but it WILL not be recognized by the church as a sacrament. In order for it to be recognized by the church it must take place in a church, in Gods House.

No...a friend wanted to do this ....the only way the catholic church will recognize your wedding is to do in the church...in my opinion I feel like it all has to do with money because didn't God create the world and I think God will recognize your marriage wherever you get married...sorry for the little vent!![]()
