Fret not, there was a thread on the Newlywed board about those who may never be ready. I am going to try to find it for you so you can see other's opinion on this heated topic. I do not feel the urge, I do not hear my clock ticking. I don't think I have ever. I love children. I love my life just the way it is quite fine. Most people say you will know when the time is right. I wish you all the best, you are definitely not alone on this one.

Re: Will I ever be ready?
I think it is perfectly ok not to want children. I on the other hand am 33 also and want them right away. If you feel no desire, don't give in to pressure from others. If the time comes and you desire children of your own, you will know!
Good Luck on your decision either way

Re: Will I ever be ready?
I spent half my adult life preventing having a child that is ..until I MET my husband and then I just knew..I pregnant now and scared @$#! but when you feel that baby move, it's the most amazing feeling in the world.
Don't over think it, it will come naturally. Good Luck to you.

Re: Will I ever be ready?
I think it takes A LOT of corage to admit that you might not want to have any children. There is NOTHING wrong with it either. Not everyone wants to be a mom or a dad. You should NOT feel any pressure to have a child, because you are going to be the parent, not the person telling you that you have to have a baby. There are SOOO many women who have chosen not to have children. You should consider going on www.weddingchannel.com I think there is a thread devoted to this. You might feel better knowing that you are not alone in these feelings.

I don't think there is anything wrong with not wanting to have children. It is not for everyone. The important thing is that you discussed it with your FH so that you are both ok with it if you decide that you do or don't want children in the future. I have friends who have children & are happy & I have friends who don't want to have children and are happy.

Re: Will I ever be ready?
I got married about 6.5 mos ago and DH & I are both 31. He wants children desperately and he can't wait to be a father. I am a little different, while I love kids, I am very nervous to have them for the many reasons people list: financial security, balancing work/home, less travel and independent time as well as the actual labor of birth! I never had the urge either as some women do, but I am starting to warm up to it - reading the parenting boards helps! My best friend just had her first baby so that makes me even more nervous because before I used to say 'well I will always have children but its so far away' now, it seems like a close reality. I just think women give up a lot more to have kids so it makes it more difficult to make that decision. I dont think there is anything wrong with choosing not to become a parent either. It's your choice and it's far worse to have them for selfish reasons or because it is the thing to do.....
