Will I feel a big let down once the wedding's over?
So I really just started planning and just booked the RH last week, so it's all very exciting and it's all I can think about. It's like all the ideas I have had since, I dunno, I was THREE, are finally being planned out and thought about in a real sense ... and it makes me want to just plan, plan, plan!!!
But I thought last night ... will I have this immense sense of 'what now?' when I have nothing to plan or when we return from the honeymoon? After a year of always planning, doing, organizing, getting ready for something -- do you feel like you need something else? (Is that when the baby planning begins????? HAHA)
I guess I could always start my wedding scrapbook after the honeymoon......
Any thoughts from former planaholics???

It's common to feel a sense of 'loss' and maybe even depression after the big day is over and you've returned from your HM. But in reality, it's not 'all over'. You'll still have proofs to look at, an album to put together, a video to watch, TYs to write out, enlargements to pick, etc. Not everyone feels this way tho, some are just so glad it's finally over!! But the best thing to do is to get yourself involved in something else, whether it be furthering your career, buying a house, making a baby, etc. Your idea of making a scrapbook is great and will serve as a wonderful keepsake!!

i don't think you feel a big 'letdown' cause once the day happen you realize all the headaches and planning was well worth it! but i do think that its normal to have a bit of an adjustment period of 'wow i have allll this time on my hands' especially when you realize that once your day has come and gone--you are no longer the center of attention among family and friends! now it becomes your turn to be happy for other friends getting engaged and planning their own big days.
i've been married almost 6 months--and i would LOVE to re-live the day over and over again--but i know it was just one day. i'm excited that i had it--and sometimes i get nostalgic looking at pics and such--but now begins the rest of our lives!
once you are no longer a bride you realize how much you fussed over the 'little' things that didn't matter. (i know i did!) and you are happy you had your day, glad its over--but sometimes wish it could be relived again!
ETA: after the wedding you can fill up your time by catching up with old friends that you might have pushed on the back burner during planning, spend time with your hubby, redecorate your place, etc.!

I was thinking about this last night as well. I am hoping that after all of this planning that I'm glad we did it. I hope I don't feel like it wasn't worth it for a 6 hour affair.
This wedding has consumed my life and I'm only a few weeks into planning. The thought of another year of this scares me!

We are very alike! :) First the music and then thinking about the same thing on the same day?

I'm more excited for everything that comes after the wedding. Like a pp mentioned, Tys, albums, videos... But then there's the decorating, and the new house and my messes in the kitchen I will call dinner and children. There's a lot to look forward to. The wedding is a celebration of bringing your lives together. After that you actually get to have a life again lol!

i think i might be a little sad thats its over and that im not the bride anymore BUT hopefully FH and I will have different things to focus on - like having a new home built, moving to Florida, having children (well thats really far ahead) and things like that.......getting married will be the start of new things for us which is exciting!

Once the wedding is over, I feel that I would want to plan someone elses wedding as well, lol I would be so used to doing that. It kinda will be a let down but a great relief as well. Its a weird feeling and I dont want to think about it, lol

I thought I would get all depressed after it was over, but I'm really not. It's been 1 1/2 months for me, and I'm just so happy. It may have also helped that our honeymoon wasn't right after, so we still had something to look forward to with that. I'm just enjoying being married, but I'm sure when another friend gets engaged I'll be all set to help out!
I think the best thing you can do is just try to enjoy everything as it happens, and tere are plenty of things to look forward to once you're a Mrs.!

i've been married just over 2 years now... and i can tell you- the best part comes AFTER the wedding! really!! the little stuff- sitting on the couch every night watching TV together, cooking dinner together (and then ordering pizza when it doesn't come out right!), planning vacations together, decorating or remodeling a house together... the wedding is a great START to your lives together, but its just that- the START. its not the be all, end all of everything.... enjoy the planning, but ALWAYS keep in mind that the best stuff is coming after the big party!

I think about this all the time. I guess I will get tied up with the baby thing.

I agree very much with this post. I did not feel a big let down after the wedding. It might have helped though that we moved to Albany and I just got a new job so I have been way too busy. Just remember to enjoy your day.

Thanks ladies. I have been living with FH for 4 years now, so I don't think much will change there -- but like you said Future Mulligan -- we will be planning to move, probably ... and having kids won't be too far off!!
