Will I regret it...

Will I regret it...

if I don't have a videographer?

FH and I can't really decide. we are definitely not into having a camera in our faces all day (besides the photographer, of course).. and as a guest at weddings I hate when they film the dance floor...

I dislike the whole idea of a videographer, but I'm afraid I'll regret it afterwards. Most of my married friends are glad that they did have one because they get to live the moments again any time they want.

Thoughts?

I wasn't going to have one and then after talking to a woman at work (she was married 20 years ago) I was convinced to get one... She said she wishes she had gotten the video so her children could see family members who have passed and they never got to meet and even just so she helself could look back on her wedding day...

I did not want one but my Dad and FH really did. After speaking to a few ppl who have been married awhile they mentioned that they watch their video more often than they look at their pic!!!!!

You dont have to get anything fancy get a basic video package

i think so. you miss so much throughout the day that you will be able to see on video. plus down the road you can show people who werent there.

also its a nice way to re-live your day...it brings an aspect that photos cant do.

get the basic, you dont need all the fancy stuff

Its a constant debate on here. It really seems to depend on the bride and grooms personality. For us, I know we will watch it twice and then it will get lost in our dvd collection, so we are not doing it. But again, thats us, there are plenty of people out there who have watched their video a thousand times. So it really depends on you.

We're doing one. FH didn't want one, but then my sister pointed two things out:

1- We're going to be so busy that day, that we're not going to see a lot of what goes on

2- FH will have his dance with his mom, I'll have my dance with my dad. And all of our other loved ones will be there. One day, they won't be around anymore, and it'll be a great memory to have on video.

I was back and forth with this one as well...

FH didn't want one, I did.... Then we began to think many of the people who will be on the video sadly won't be here one day and we would like to have them on film. We know we are going to miss tons of what is going on with the day being so busy so we (i insisted) we get one. FH still doesn't care about it now, but I know he will after.

i always tell people to get one anyway, there is a chance you might regret and there wont be anything you could do about it. you dont have to go crazy you can hire one for pretty cheap just so you have something ya know

i think you should do it...this only happens ONCE and you dont want to regret it down the line and there is no way to turn back time!!! it will be nice for you to look at later down the road and for your future kids to see it also...if you dont like it when they film the dance floor and have the cameras in your face all day just talk to your videographer about what you like and i am sure they will make you happy!

I'm getting it, FH didn't want it, but there is soo much that you end up missing as you are talking to your guest and taking pictures, I want to be able to watch it and relive the moments as much as possible

Yes you will!!! I have a friend who thought she didn't need it and now regrets it, she was married two years ago and said she would now love to look at the video, but doesn't have one

I am in the same dilemna as you. I don't want my wedding to look like paparazzi and, as a guest, I HATE when the video camera gets shoved into your face.
BUT I have read some previous brides on LIW saying that it is such a nice thing to have. The one reason I want it is to be able to show my children, because I doubt I will ever watch it more than once.

I don't think we will end up getting one though because it's not in our budget.

I think so! Those are you memories!
In my personal experience, my grandma who passed away 2 years ago is on my sisters wedding video, and it is just wonderful to watch her dancing around. I think that you will regret not having the video.

I agree - my parents didn't have one and they regret it. I would have loved to have seen my parents wedding video. That's part of the reason we're getting one.

I say def get one. I was against it because I know Im not the kind of person who will pull it out and watch it. But Im very glad I got video now. You day will fly by. DH & I do not remember parts of the day....ITs a blur. THe video is great to go back and watch and you will see things that you were not there to see because you were doing something else.

Personally, I wouldn't do without it! I know a few people that didn't have one for their wedding and they definitely regret it.

I say get one. When you look at videographers make it clear you don't want the big light and stuff on the dance floor. My friend used ***** I didn't even know they had a video ... s i l v e r f o x is the same way HTh
