Will you parents open wedding gifts with you?

Will your parents be opening envelopes with you after the wedding?

Mine mentioned it and I found this to be strange OK, very strange. I don't mind telling them what family members gifts were, but to sit with us and open them

What do you all think?

usually you and hubbie sit down with your parents and open everything. More of the traditional aspect. Mom usually writes who gave what down so you have a record for when you thank people.

I never gave this much thought yet, but after reading the posts I would not want anyone else to see what everyone gave us. It would be awkward. I don't know if we will want to open them in the HM suite the night of b/c we will have better things to do! LOL

Maybe we'll open them when we get back in our own home.

We are leaving the next day (so far..havent officially booked yet) so we wont have time. They say we HAVE to do it before we leave

Knowing how FH and I are, our parents will not be around when we open our gifts. Personally, I feel that it is no one else's business who gave us what.

DH and I opened them together in our newlywed suite after the wedding.. no one else was present

our wedding ends at 6:30, and then we are all going to an afterparty at a bar ... by the time we get back to the hotel it will be late and we will have better things to do .... so I think we will open them by ourselves the next night. I think I am going to give the gifts to my parents to hold or to someone not going to the after party ... I don't want them in the hotel room or in someone's car

I live close so maybe I will have someone drop them off before going to the after party????

I think it's really up to you.....I know my brother opened them with my parents and his wifes parents but this was the following day and it just so happened that everyone was having lunch together at their house before they left for their HM

I don't think either way is right or wrong, it really is up to you guys and when you decide to open them.....IMO if my parents or FH's mom are all present when we open them then that's fine, if we're alone that's fine too but don't take the parents back to the bridal suite LOL that's wierd!!!!

i agree with the other girls.... this is pretty strange, but i wouldn't put it past my parents to ask to do this too!!

at the very least, they will ask us to write up a list, and show them. my mom is very tit for tat (you're buying her a birthday present? did she buy you one this year?) ugh!!

That's kind of nosy of your parents.

Those gifts are for you and your DH, and so are the cards.

DH and I openend some cards the evenin gof our wedding, but opened the rest the day after when we weren't tired and had more time to read the cards.

My daughter & son in law waited till the morning after the wedding. They brought everything to my house and opened it here. I made a list and took everything to the bank since they would be leaving on their honeymoon.

I guess it's personal preference. If timing workis out, my parents are welcome to be there. I have no problem with that.

We opened them the next morning at my parents house with my family there. Never really thought about it as odd- never really thought about it at all. Neither of us had a problem with my family being there, but it's what you both feel comfortable with.
