Will/has anyone...

Will/has anyone...

Is anyone planning on having their dad at the wedding but not walk them down the aisle? Or married ladies, did any of you do this?

I've had a really tough relationship with my dad (he disappeared for years when I was a kid, etc), and he doesn't really deserve to walk me down the aisle. I'm afraid I will regret it if he doesn't do it though. And would it be weird if he was there but didn't walk me down the aisle?

I'm getting married in 8 days and still don't know who is walking me down the aisle. Help!!

No one HAS to walk you down the aisle. You can go it alone if you feel like you're strong enough to do so.

Or you can have your mom do it.

Or, see if your mom and dad are cool with both of them walking you down together if you feel like you might regret it down the line.

You'll figure it out.

Thats a hard one. you really need to way the pros and cons. Is he going to stick around or is he just he so he can have his moment and than i going to disappear agian. Do you have a replacement person or would you walk done on your own? If you walked down on your own it may not feel so weird as having some1 stand in. DId you ask you mom what she thinks?

I guess the other options are having my mom do it (she is also my MOH), walking with FH, having my brother do it, or having my Grandpa do it. I really don't want to go alone, because I'm too chicken.

I asked my mom and she basically says that she thinks he doesn't deserve to do it, and then she refuses to talk more about it because it makes her too angry.

My dad asked if he needed a tux and I said no, but he went and bought one anyway. I think he is doing it so that I will ask him to walk me down the aisle.

Ugh, I don't know....

'09er crashing.

I had my mom walk me down the aisle. I had all 4 parents come up and light the unity candle and I danced with my dad, but my mom is the one who deserved the honor of walking me down the aisle and I wouldn't have had anyone else by my side at that moment.

i have issues with my father too ... in Jewish weddings, both parents walk you down the aisle so i feel like i can handle my dad being there.

as for the father-daughter dance, it's going to be at the same time as FH's dance with his mom so nobody feels too special

Actually, I am having both my mom and dad walk me down, coz they divorced when I was starting college and my dad moved away from NY, so who was there for me during college and through most of my adulthood was my mom. When I was a child I was a daddy's girl, so I couldn't not have him there...

I have a similar situation where to be honest, my dad really doesn't deserve it. When I first got engaged I planned to have him there but let my mom just walk. Now as it gets closer and I decided I kinda need to free myself from all of his mistakes & BS as weird as that sounds and so I'll be having him & my mom walk me down. However, I will not be doing the father/daughter dance, just letting FH do the mother/son dance. You should do whatever feels right in your heart for you.

I had my mom walk me for that reason - She really was the one 'giving me away.' For me, it was the only thing that made sense. Good luck deciding - I know how difficult it can be

My mom walked me down the aisle! My dad actually didn't even come to my wedding. He wasn't invited for very personal reasons (we haven't spoken in years), so I already planned on having my mom walk me down the aisle and was thrilled to have her do so!

This is exactly what I want to do! I have a father, not a Daddy (If that makes any sense). I wanted my mom to walk me down the aisle because she is the one who raised me. She said no you need to take a limo with your father to the church and he needs to walk you down the aisle. I told my mom I didn't want to have a father/daughter dance either. She said just pick the shortest song and scuk it up. Ugh! She knows how much my dad scuks, I don't know why she is putting me through this torture?!?! She doesn't want to walk me down the aisle because she wants to see me come down the aisle.

My dad has not participated in this wedding whatsoever! He hasn't asked how things are coming along and hasn't ever asked for any help. He is such an a$$.
