Williams-Sonoma

I just got the new catalog and I totally want to register for half the things in there! I am so obsessed with it - that and Potter Barn - I feel so much like Rachel from friends - does everyone remember that episode when they bought everything in teh Pottery Barn window?

i have a number of items from WS and i love them. their spices are great too. but unless you love to cook i would not recommend spending hundreds on gadgets etc...you might never use them.

That is true michele - luckily I love! to cook and bake - i love all their plates and mixing bowls and i am in love with their orange kitchen aid mixer - FH is going to freak when I tell him I want it in orange!

Re: Williams-Sonoma

My only advice on the orange is this: you love it now, but in 10 years from now you still have to love it. The mixer is VERY heavy so it typically ends up staying on your counter most of the time. That means, organge has to match your kitchen for a very long time to come.
I have a white one, and I love it. But if it was one of the trendy colors seeing it in my kitchen would bother me after a while. it would not match anything.
Again, just something for you to consider.

if you love to cook get a clay baker. I love mine. You put meat, veggies and pototoes into it and you cannot have a more tender piece of meat in your life. it is great. one pot too.

I second that. I have a kitchen aid mixer and thank God I got it in black. Its heavy and spends most it time on the countertop.

My FI is the BEST COOK EVER! He loves to cook and BBQ and all that stuff - I love to bake! So the kitchen is our place! Can't wait to go shopping for our kitchen!

Re: Williams-Sonoma

Thanks for the tips girls - Orange is one of my favorite colors, so i am pretty ok with it - the 10 year comment is making me think about it though. I am going to have my daughter questioning what possessed me to by an orange mixer in the future if I do end up getting it!!! My mom has a cobalt blue one now so i know how heavy it is. We dont have much counter space at home so my mom has a spot for it in our kitchen closet. Moving it is a feat!

hmm....i think i should take a stroll to williams-sonoma to see what colors spark my interest.

Re: Williams-Sonoma

After I registered I fell in LOVE with the pink mix master! But I already registered for the BIG one, and it only came in black or white. I even had the saleslady talking to me about it, and she said it really depends on how much you bake. If you bake a lot and want to make breads, then you should really get the biggest one going. If you don't bake alot and don't need something with a large capacity, then you can get one of the smaller models in a cool color.

Even though I felt disappointed, I stuck with the BIG white one.

I still think about the pink one, though....
