Can anyone suggest a nice place to stay out East. I can't take a honeymoon because of work, but I would like a long weekend.
I was looking for a really clean place (FI and I are fanatics about hotels) with some things to do.
Thanks

You should look into Greenport and surrounding areas on the North Fork. There are tons of bed and breakfasts out there, as well as hotels in greenport. Go on tripadvisor.com to see more specific places to stay and to get other traveler's reviews. FH is from out there and it's just beautiful.
You cuold also check with a local realtor about renting a house or condo in the hamptons for a week or weekend - however lolng you can. I know people who have done that and loved it.
No! Don't stay there. I told my girlfriend to stay there based on an article that was written about it. She got there and started to cry it was so dirty. Literally, lipstick stains on the water glasses etc. Go onto Tripadvisor.com and look up the reviews. The place is terrible and is misleading. just an FYI

Try the Jamesport Manor Inn and the Jedediah Hawkins House.

Did you want to stay on Long Island?
If you're willing to travel up to the Fingerlakes wine region, I highly recommend staying at Belhurst Castle. You should definitely stay in the Vinifera Inn portion of the hotel, though, not the castle part. (It's all one building, but the Vinifera Inn rooms are newer, nicer, and actually less expensive)
They all have fireplaces and king sized beds. They have jacuzzi tubs, too, but they were amazingly not super-cheesy!
I can also recommend a great company for wine tours. We've used them three times and were so impressed with them each time!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Jedediah Hawkins House. It's beautiful and I've heard great things about it.

I just got back from the Greenporter. It was relatively clean, and serviceable, but I can understand about what someone complained about cleanliness. (There was a dead fly on the seat in the restaurant). I love the Blue Iris. Its a lovely B&B in Cutchogue (I think). There are only three rooms, very private and gorgeous. The owners are lovely. Another place to consider is the Jeddiah Hawkins Inn, Its a restored Victorian House. Beautiful rooms and has a wonderful restaurant (The Chef from Cool Fish; ThomThom and the Woodlands (Tom Schaudel) created the menu. My FI and I were there in January and Schaudel was cooking that night. And finally, in Greenport, there is a hotel named the HarborFront Inn. Its right on the water. Looks beautiful, but I don't have any personal knowledge about the place. I know its kind of expensive, but so is the Jeddiah Hawkins Inn.
