I want to get my maid of honor a gift certificate to go wine tasting (she was wanted to do it forever but we just never got around to it). I know nothing about places to do this. Can anyone recommend a good place that does this and maybe how much it is? Thanks!!

Re: Wine tasting??
I don't know but I know that when I go wine tasting on LI I go to all the different places. Each place is either free or only a buck or two. Maybe just plan a day with her to do it?
We are actually thinking of renting a party bus for the day after our wedding to go wine tasting with the guests that stayed over and/or want to hang out the next day.

Re: Wine tasting??
the vineyards out east are great. I went to three places, Lenze, Bedell, and Pindar. It was dirt cheap (I think it was 5-10 each place) and then we went to some seafood restaurant and had lobster. it was sooo much fun. they have some party buses too. you should try and find that so she doesn't have to drive!!!

Re: Wine tasting??
there are a ton of great places out east - each place charges different prices and offers different options - 'flights,' where you pay a certain price and taste several wines, individual tastings, and special tastings that are a bit more $$ but they give you more in the glass. martha clara, roanoke, pellegrini, raphael, macari, osprey's dominion, castello di borghese, and peconic are just a few that have really good wine.
if I were doing it, I'd make her a handmade gift cert. for the 2 of you to go tasting together. it's much more fun to taste at several places on the same trip out, IMO, and that would require lots of individual gift certs! JMO.

ok thansk so much! I had no idea it was that cheap...I though tit would be expensive!!! A hand made gift certificate is a great idea... but one more question..it would probably be me, her, my fiance and her boyfriend...do I pay for the both of them since it's cheap? Or just her? Hmm...

Maybe offer and plan to go wine tasting and pick up the cost for a while for both of them. It could add up but it might be insulting to him if you only pay for her.

If you're only going to a few places, I'd pick up the tasting fees for all and maybe throw in one bottle of wine for her as a gift? (Depends on what you want to spend, though)

Re: Wine tasting??
It's usually like $5 per flight, and you get to taste anywhere from like 3-6 wines on that depending on where you go. So figure around $20 per vineyard if you're going to pay for yourself and the 2 of them (more if you're also gonna treat FH), plus any wine you might want to buy.
My experience is that the more places you go, the less you care about the money (thank god i never drive myself!)

i took a wine 101 course in manhattan at the nyc wine company on west 23rd and loved it. they offer a lot of different classes, some are introductory classes and some are for intermediate wine drinkers. it was definitely a lot of fun if you want to give it as a gift. my fiance gave it to me as a birthday gift two years ago.

If she is really into wines that sounds like a great idea! I love wine but I'm at the wineries more to get buzzed and have a good time.
