Well...our ceremony is at 3pm....so it will still be light out when we come out of the church. Also, we are going to take a lot of pics in between the church and the ceremony.

What time is your ceremony?

We aven't booked our ceremony, but b/c FH is Jewish, it'll have to be after sunset, which is at 4:30...so by definition, it will be dark..lol

I really don't want to see each other beforehand. At least we can take a lot of pics in front of the christmas tree at the hall!

I am not a winter bride, BUT my best friend got married in January last year. Her ceremony was at 2, and her reception was later in the evening, so they had plenty of time between the church and the reception to take pics.
Most of them were indoors anyway because it was very cold out.

If FH is jewish, and you are being strict about the ceremony after sunset, then are you also signing a ketubah?
Because that needs to be done before the ceremony, so you would see each other before anyway.

Jen, many Jewish winter brides are forced to do most if not all of their pics inside. I know we are and my sister was a January bride in 1990. It sounds like you will have a nice tree set up so that will look pretty. Does NRC have a staircase or a big atrium? Maybe they can have arrangements or something else that is decorated nicely for you. We will be even further into the winter and are crossing our fingers that there isnt a noreaster. If there is a nice, light, snowfall, we may venture outside and tough it out. If we had done a wedding in the spring or summer, our guests wouldnt be able to eat until almost 10 or 11 o'clock. No Rabbi would marry us before the sun went down. My brother was married in an interfaith ceremony at a catering hall on a Friday night before Shabbos started. Thats the only reason why we ate at a decent time.

I'm not Jewish, but I am getting married at NRC and I think you have a beautiful setting for indoor pictures. The lobby and the bridal suite are gorgeous. You can do pictures on the grand staircase with your FH and bridal party, and your more intimate pictures of just the two of you can be done in front of the fireplace in the bridal suite. I think you'll have great pictures!

NRC is pretty.

We're signing a ketubah, but I think we're going to try to do it DURING the ceremony. I know in Christian ceremonies, you sign the marriage certificate on the altar. I'm going to ask the rabbi if we can do it as aprt of the ceremony. I don't want FH to see me before. I want waling down the aisle to be the first moment!
