Re: Winter Wedding Ideas

There are soooo many things you can do. Not sure how much our December 07 bride thread will help but do a search for that on our 07 board. You may be able to get some ideas.

Are you thinking of centering around a single design element like a snowflake or anything else?

I think it would be nice to send guests away with a nice cup of hot chocolate or to serve it during the cocktail hour. Also, I saw a winter wedding in which for favors they gave out white pashimas/shawls and it had a note on it that said 'stay cozy.'

Also, nothing says winter more than snow, so maybe you can get your dj to bring a snow machine to give the illusion that its snowing during your first dance, and also I saw somewhere that there is an artifial type snow that you can probably sprinkle on your tables.

I had a winter wedding! It was great. I have lots of ideas check out my pics in my album for some. I also set up a hot cocoa stand at the door on the way out. I prited custom labels for take out cups. Everyone loved it. Im going to post a cute picture of my bridal party. I gave them all scarves and gloves and they wore them for the photo. FM me if you need any more ideas I would love to help!

I didn't really do anything blatantly winter-y. But my hall still had their christmas decor up, which added to the winter time ambiance. I wore a fur capelet when I took pics outside...and we bought hot chocolate packets in different flavors to be brought out with our cordials table at the end of the night.

Re: Winter Wedding Ideas

I was in my friend's wedding last year in December, and she did a Winter-Christmas theme. She had these cute little glass Christmas Trees as the centerpieces. And while we were eating, the DJ played Christmas music. Our dresses were red, and the bride had an Alfred Angelo dress with red in it too.

She had bought us these black fleece cloaks which came to our elbow and had a hood in the back - most of us weren't too crazy about them though.

The bride had a long white cloak for herself and a white muff - which actually looked really nice!!!

I see that your wedding date is the beginning of January, so you prob won't be aiming to do a Christmas theme considering it'd be after the holidays. But I guess I'd recommend doing something with snowflakes to keep with a winter theme.

Also, for favors you can do something with packets of hot cocoa, or maybe a gingerbread bride and groom cookie.

For colors, I'd recommend maybe a dark blue - it reminds me of coldness/winter.

I had my winter wedding almost a month ago and it was gorgeous! A few weeks before the wedding, I though to myself, what am I doing having a wedding right after the holidays?!? It was stressful, not going to lie, but once the big day came, the decorations and everything just looked so beautiful that I knew why I had stressed out with the holidays and all!

I will be posting my proofs soon, but I have some of my 'Wedding Things' in my profile. Look for my review too which I hope to get up sometime in February. But we purchased ornaments and wrapped them all for each of our guests as their favors, our centerpieces were Christmas green wreaths with red and white flowers, with a big pillar candle in the middle, we all wore white capes and I carried a red rose bo-k.

As for our music, we had Christmas songs sung before the mass and Matt and I walked out to Joy to the World. I hope this stuff helps- if you need anything, send me an FM!

I'm having a winter wedding and my ideas are either whimsical holiday with sage green's and deep reds and holly and holly berries .

Alternatively my other idea is winter wonderland with deep blue, silver and white.

I'm still going back and forth. theknot.com has some cute winter ideas on there also. Check them out.

i had a winter wedding. the girls wore navy dresses.... and i wore a cloak as did my flower girl. girls wore wraps to match their dresses.

besides the color scheme of navy and cream, i didn't go very wintry. . . . i was on a budget, so i didn't go too crazy with extra details. feel free to check out my review for ideas though.

i wanted to get married at christmas... you could go crazy there!

I too am doing a winter wedding. My colors are black dresses with champagne sash for the girls. I am doing mostly that champagne color, with golds, ivory. See my album, I got the cutest place card holders at Pier 1. Those are the colors I am doing. Plus the RH will be fully decorated, I dont want my wedding to feel like a Christmas party, so I am not going overboard with the Christmasy feel. I plan on doing some greens on the tables with off white colored flowers.
