Thank you so much everyone!! All of this helps a lot! I love the hot chocolate ideas and the the gingerbread brides! So cute

We are thinking whites and blues. Possibly blue velvet for the girls. I invision white candles and birch trees.

Right now I am thinking of going with snowflake theme.

Hey Brideinstride! ...oh wow - I am thinking of the same DATE!.. we can definitely do a wintery mix... snowflakes or all white theme.... anything!... i love the fur idea... my parents actually got married in January and my mom had her girls with fur mufffs! - soooo cute!! (that was 28 years ago!!!)...

I have a question.. since I am not set 100% on the date... FH is thinking it's to close after the holidays... how did you decide?

I actually choose the date b/c i like the ring it has... 1-9-10... silly i guess.. who knows..

Re: Winter Wedding Ideas

I'm organizing a winter wedding for my friend (to take place on Christmas itself) and we're using white and blue colors.
We will try to make snowflake invitations, have snowflakes everywhere, and use a restaurant that is already fully decorated for Christmas, so no additional decorations will be needed.
We'll try to get fake snow in there (haven't worked this out yet)
and we'll have snowflake ornaments as the table number indicators
Can't wait

We had a winter Wedding! It was lovely.
Snowflakes were my theme.

My Invites had snow flakes
My hall had snow flakes hanging from the ceiling.
and my cake was covered with snow flakes.
I even found Snowflake Jewels for my bo-k.

I was hoping for Snow on our day...but It ended up being 65 degrees in December. SO much for snow on my wedding day!

pictures in my album.

Re: Winter Wedding Ideas

we decided for the ceremony & CH everything will be pretty traditional for christmas - JT is decorated for Christmas really nice - the fireplaces are going, and there is lots and lots of holiday decor going on (there are some pictures i took in my ablum) - my BM's will wear a taupe dress that has a nice silvery/crystal brooch on top by the bust (pic in my album), my bok will be black magic roses with some eggplant callas and the BM boks will be all burgundy callas (i wanted reds but something a little different than just plain red rose boks - pics in album), for the ceremony we'll have dim lighting, candles and a red/burgundy flower arrangement above the chuppah and red rose petals down the aisle....during the CH we're having our string trio from the ceremony play some classical christmas songs....placecards im not really sure what we are going to do yet....

the reception we are changing it up a little bit and the party will have a more modern feel - like a winter wonderland - we'r edoing icy blue ambiance lighting behind us and behind the DJ, half high branch CPs with hanging votives (and maybe some hanging crystals) and half low CP's with white roses - im thinking of ordering a card holder in ivory and silver that looks like gift boxes with snowflakes attached to it (pic in my album), favors maybe a christmas ornament, cake not sure what we are doing but we want to keep with the theme - im going to talk with JT and my florist to see what we can come up with....our VH will have everything as well as egg nog, hot chooclate and some christmas cookies to keep up with the holiday theme

im sure there are other things ill think of doing when its closer - i want it to be very elegant and simple not to overdone on the christmas/winter theme but we do want the wedding to have a holiday feel - because that is why we chose our date! we love christmastime!

keep posting your ideas girls!
