wish my mom lived nearby

wish my mom lived nearby

i'm really upset lately and i haven't talked to anyone about it...not even fh.

i'm just sad b/c my mom lives in wisconsin and i really wish she was here. my mom is like my best friend. i really want her to be there when i go to try on dresses. she offered to fly in for my final fitting but i wish she was here now...i like to get things done early, and i'd really like to find THE dress as soon as possible. i just wish she was here to go with me.

i miss her all the time, but now that i'm getting married...i wish she were here more than ever!!

I totally know how you are feeling!
My mom lives in Atlanta and I'm finding it sooo difficult to not have her here during the planning!
I am planning on getting my dress in May, my mom already has a flight booked for a long weekened where we are going to look together and hopefully find something!!!

Aww... I'm sorry your mom's not with you for all this; it can definitely be a bonding experience. But there is still so much you can do with her even if she's not physically next to you: share tons of photos with her over e-mail, call her about little details and not just the big ones, so she'll feel included, try to involve her in decisions that she can make from far away, like invitations, guest list, stuff like that.

I bet if you called and told her that, you'd make her whole weekend. Moms always love knowing that their girls still need them.

Yea, I mean we talk every day, and now most of the talk revolves around the wedding lol. She is still very much involved and she comes in to visit a lot, but she obviously can't come in every weekend so things like bridal shows and appointments I have to do without her. Its just a general feeling that she isn't there and we both feel sad about it. But we are making the best of it, of course.

Hey...I definately know how you feel. My mom passed away when I was eleven and I always dreaded the day I had to begin planning my wedding without her. Its so hard and recently I broke down to my FH about it. I have my friends and Aunts...but its just not the same. Just hang in there though...these times are supposed to be happy ones.....

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I know that I should be grateful that my mom is here with me in any capacity. I lost my father two year ago, and that, combined with my mom being so far away, is making the wedding planning bittersweet.

i'm glad i posted this on here. even though it's sad that a lot of us don't have our moms around us, it's at least nice to know that other girls understand how it feels.

it is nice to know there are others!!

Also, just a tip, on the Travelocity website, there is something you can set up called a farewatcher, and it will send you an email everytime there is a discounted flight from your hometown to here (or wherever you set it up for)
I use that so if there are any really good deals, my mom tries to take advantage of them to fly down!

Yeah, you're not alone, my mom is in Virginia now, and shes having economic hardships, my father unexpectantly passed a few years ago when we all lived in Chicago, and he was a struggling actor, which means he left us with no insurance or anything, so it's hard not being there for her, and its hard planning all this on my own... BUT it'll all work out, and hope she can get out here atleast once to try on mom dresses!!!

I know exactly how you are feeling. My mom lives 8 hours away. I've been sad looking at dresses without her. I'm actually flying there in two weeks to go look at dresses with my mom. I want my mom to love and approve of the one I buy.
