Wishing Well

I need to rent a wishing well for my daughter's shower and I don't know where to go. I called up Party City and they used to rent them but not anymore. Does anyone have any idea where else I could rent one. I live in Suffolk County, but the shower is in Nassau County.

Why don't you make one? I made my sister's out of a wicker hamper that had a top to it. Then I held the top up with a mop and a broom. Just a thought.

Did you then cover the wicker basket with lace or anything? That could be a great idea. Where did you get the wicker hamper?

Re: Wishing Well

for a friends shower, the mother made one out of huge outside garbage pails... they needed to buy one anyway for their new house... you never have enough garbage cans! She wrapped them up in tool... i think they actually had two... one for the groom and one for the bride... so one was decorated as if it was in a tux, and the other with tool, like a bride...

My mother made one for my SIL, using cardboard wrapped in white fabric. It turned out really cute. I think it saves a lot of money, because most rentals I've seen were $35+

and she can USE it after. this is what my mom is doing. she asked me to register for a hamper or tall garabage can, and then she's just going to decorate it a little. maybe some lace or streamers or something fun like that. simple, easy and useful!

I looked it up and you can actually buy a cardboard box that's ready to go. Here's a pic and a link where you can buy them:

At a friend of mine's shower, they used a large cooler, because the couple loves to throw parties, so they knew the cooler would be useful in the future, and they had it decorated with ribbon, bows and streamers, and everyone put their gifts in it.

We are also using a wicker hamper for my friends shower. Linens and Things and Target have great baskets and hampers.

They did it for mine and I use the hamper now.

You're Invited to Celebrate....she is amazing! She does the chairs decorated in the wedding colors, and the wishing well too. Ask for Paula 516-248-1842

And her prices are good too.

Party Giant on hempstead turnpike in levittown has them the umbrella is 6.99 for rental fee and the wishing well 15.99 for the rental fee I think its a 100 deposit. and you get it back when merchandise is returned. If you dont have time to make it , this is def worth a shot and they are clean too- thats another thing you dont want to go to a place and they are dirty from being rented. good luck AND my wishing well was for the GROOM- he got a ton of great gifts!!

Re: Wishing Well

You should call around to different Party Cities, because there are some that still do rent them out. We just rented one last week from one in Queens. I was just talking to some one about this today (at a shower!) She said she had to call a few until she found one that still did it (somewhere is Nassau)

Its a 50 dollar deposit, and a 12 dollar rental fee.

They did the same for my shower! Since we had a co-ed shower, we actually had 2 hampers - a his and her. And each was filled with gender specific stuff as well as stuff for the both of us.

I got cleaning stuff, house stuff, lingerie and he got things like tools and tools sets, car organizers, and boxer shorts, gym/workout stuff.

And we both use the hampers - they are great!!

We bought it in Target, and no, we kept it plain with some ribbons on it.
