How far in advance do you send them and how far before the wedding date is the RSVP?

From what I've heard, you send them out 2 months before, and the RSVP date is usually 1 month before....unless it is a holiday weekend then the invites should go out before.

we sent our out the first week in December for our 3/4/06 wedding, rsvp 2/1/06 because it was right around christmas time.

We're sending them out February 15, with an RSVP date of March 20

This is what my invite lady told me too- she's a 30 year pro at it. I'm jealous of those sending theirs out already who are around my time!

so then my idea of: mail 3/17/06 rsvp 4/21/06 dated 5/13/06
is crunching it a bit???
we are not having many people 100.00 adn they all got STD'S

from the etiquette lady, they state 6-8 weeks prior to a wedding w/RSVP approximately 1 month before!
Q. When should I mail my wedding invitations?
A. The invitation should be mailed six to eight weeks ahead. For summer weekends, holiday weekends, and out of town weddings eight weeks ahead is recommended. If your wedding is during a particularly busy time of year (holiday weekends) consider sending a 'Save the Date' card well in advance of your invitation mailing.

I think the RSVP should be a little sooner...you are going to have to give a head count and stuff and you are going to have to chase people for RSVPs
