I'm doing sit-down. It saves a lot of time for dancing, chatting with your guests, etc.

Actually, the places I looked at the prices were the same...
If you do buffet, remember to have hall personell, family members, etc. assist any elderly or ill guests

I am pretty sure that having a buffet dinner instead of a sit down could save us some money. Anyone having one? Can I expect to save a lot or not to noticable of a savings? I've only been to a few buffet weddings, but enjoyed them a lot, there is so much more food varieties choose from. Which do you ladies like better? Thanks.
I had one, and didn't save any money. It was virtually the same price as a sit down, but with tons more food! It was great!

I went to a wedding that was a Buffet, and it wasnt terrible but the line was out the door...we felt that we spent too much time waiting on line...and It was actually a small affair...maybe 100 people...

I found a way around that. instead of having one table with one line we are doing stations. That way peope can move about, and pick and choose what they want.
we did the same thing and it there was no long lines. It worked out perfectly.
DH and I are picky eaters, and we normally don't like the meat/veggie/potato combo that is standard with a sit-down meal, so we chose a buffet. for our wedding and our RD! For us, there was no other choice! We didn't do it to save money at all. And if we had done it for that reason, we wouldn't have saved anything.

I think a sit down is more formal, but I actually like the buffet. I don't eat red meat, so for me, there are a lot more choices of foods when I get in a buffet line. I also like having the variety of different side dishes.

I went to a wedding where there was a buffet, and they staggered the tables so there wasn't a huge line. So we avoided the line, but we were one of the last tables to go, so by the time we got our food, the tables who had gone first were already finished eating. I prefer sit-down. I think it is more formal, and I like that everyone eats at the same time, and no one has to wait on line.

Firstly, agree with the posts that state you should do what's within your budget. Having preference to sit-down myself, should you op for buffet to save on long line it's a good idea to have different stations.

Just an extra thought....we ended up having to go around to the tables at our reception, b/c the plan we had to greet people at the CH didn't really work out. I think if we had a buffet, it would have been difficult to do that, and eat ourselves. But, if you are having a receiving line at some point, I guess it wouldn't matter.

this is very popular in places other than li and is just as great.
They call them action stations. Its basically a li coctail hour plus a little more stations to make it like a full meal. no assigned seating if you want. i went to one and like it.

I wanted Buffet but not many places do buffet, and if they did it was actually alittle bit more in price then sitdown

I really wanted buffet because I personally LOVE buffet! I am a PICKY vegetarian and I have the hardest time at weddings. It seems as if when they offer a vegatarian meal its not something I like so LOVE buffet!
Its also great for people on Atkins, or other diets! People on weight watchers etc... They can pick and choose what they want and have as little or as muchas they want...
All this said.. my BM made me do a sit down... He kept telling me over and over again your CH is buffet you need to do a sit down...
