WM ladies who had their weddings already.

WM ladies who had their weddings already.

I have a question, it might sound dumb but I forgot to ask.

Does the bartender have a tip thing or not. Of the 2 weddings I've been to recently (both at nice places) 1 did and 1 didn't.

I'm asking because our friends are big drinkers (and great tippers) so I know the bartenders will be working that night so I want to allot an extra tip for them if there is not one.

TIA

the tip for the bartenders is included with the service charge. u only have to tip the bridal attendant and the maitre' d.

Our guests tipped the bartenders themselves and they all said they were very happy with their drinks.

WM is great and u have nothing to worry about. FM me if u have nay other EXTREMELY HAPPY with them.

Please, I'm not being rude, but this is not true. FFIL works at WM and FH bartends there on weekends. I myself used to waitress/bridal attend/bartend.. tips included in the service charge do not go to the staff as 'tips'. And that applies for most RHs.

Most weddings I have been to and worked, the bartenders do have tip cups for the guests to show their appreciation. As for the bride and groom, its not expected to tip out anyone but the maitre 'd, BA, and +/- captain. Its up to the guests to tip the others as they feel appropriate.

HTH!

ETA: please understand I'm not trying to be rude, please don't take offense!

Thank you both for your responses...I used to do the payroll for a RH (not on LI) & I remember the staff did not get nearly all of the 'tip' that was included in the bill. I just wanted to know b/c I want to allot extra in our tip budget because I know at our wedding they will definately be working for their money and I don't expect my guests to bring money with them.

Thanks again.

You can request not to have any tip jars on the bar so your guests do not feel obligated to tip the bartenders. And if they are not included in the service and gratuity included in your bill then you can take care of them directly.

no offense taken at all. I was only going by what was told to us at WM . As far as tip cups on the bar i didn't see them. I don't really drink so I wasn't at the bar that much.

i think thats really horrible if these hardworking people do not get their deserved dues. I know our guests tipped very well and said the bartenders were awesome. I feel really bad now if they didn't get what they should have gotten. Most of our immediate family are not big drinkers so I never even thought to tip them extra. I wish i would have seen this post before my wedding.

My sister used to work for the Inn at NHP and we also asked JT this question. The money for the service charge pays the waiters/waitresses and bartenders paychecks. It is not the tips, just their 'salary'.

I actually have never noticed the tip cup but I was told that tipping the bartenders is a no go out of our pockets at JT.
