Okay, so about 3 years ago I went on WW and lost 40 pounds and I have kept it off. . .. however throughout those three years I have seen how women's clothing has changed. Its so frustating to think after all your hard work that you are one size and then when you try on clothes its completely different!!! Does anybody else have this problem? I am so frustrated...

Sizes for clothing are absolutely ridiculous. You can be one size in one designer and a completely different size in another designer. I've come to the decision that numbers on tags don't mean anything because they're all so different.
I've also come to the conclusion that believe it or not, I think wedding gown sizes are actually closer to REAL sizes........For instance, my gown has been ordered in a size 10. I'm a size 2-4 in street clothes. But 40-50 years ago, someone my size probably would've been a size 10. It's just the businesses making their size numbers smaller and the clothes bigger to make us feel better.

That's weird because I am a street size 8 and the gown I am thinking of ordering would be in a size 10

It could also be a designer thing......who knows....all I know is the sample I tried on was a 10 and it was just a tad big.

the wedding dress size is a whole other issue with me. Normally I am a size 10 and when they ordered my dress they ordered a 16 ( I was in between the 14 & 16)

wedding dresses are sized according to your largest measurement. I am a size 14 and my dress was ordered in a 18-20.
as far as regular clothes, ive been every size from 8 to 18 and i've learned one thing - the label means NOTHING. i've found that its easier to get clothes that fits well instead of trying to fit into some weird industry standard. Marilyn Monroe, by today's standards would have been a size 14 and she is a favorite sex symbol.

Don't let it bother you. I know it's easier said than done, but seriously, the tag is nothing. Look at yourself and be happy with your look whether you're wearing S, M, L, XL, or XXL. I can tell you that I have ranged in wedding dresses from 8 - 16 depending on the designer and at first I was bothered by it, but I just told myself that I wasn't have weight fluctuations, it's just the designer and the different dresses. Instead of worrying about a specific size, I need to just find what looks good on me! Do the same, sweetie, and you'll feel much better!

Its so true! The first time I tried on a dress I was two sizes bigger than what i thought i should have been. I seriously thought I had gained weight! But through this board I learned wedding dresses are sized differently-so now I just tell them what my own measurements are and they usually tell me what size dress I would fit into based on the designer.

yeah that's what i was told... I saw a bunch of dresses in size 8 at Bridal Garden and thought i wouldn't be able to find anything that fits me (i'm a size 2-4).. and she told me i can wear any of the size 8. then i tried one on and can't even pull up the zipper on the back haha
