Wood Floor Refinishing - How long did yours take to dry??

Our floors are getting refinished tomorrow (wednesday)..They will do the entire place in one day and are telling us NO WALKING on it Wednesday and Thursday. Walk on it friday night & saturday with only white socks on! Can it take this long to dry? We have the electrical guy coming Saturday to put up a million light fixtures (Yea for our new ceiling fan, track lighting, chandeliers!)...Is this gonna be a problem?? Will he not like to put on socks and do work??LOL!!! I'll bring extra white booties for everyone I guess! But we were also going to put together our computer desk and reassamble the table..Should we wait :(

The amount of time the floors take to dry depends on what they use to finish the floors. Water-based dries quicker than oil. Our floors are water-based .. and we only needed to wait a few hours before walking on them with socks, however, we did have to wait about a week to move the furniture back into the rooms .. which was fine because we didn't have any at the time anyway! High-heeled shoes are always a no-no, but we always try to limit walking on the floors with any shoes anyway.

But, from what you've been told about the drying time for your floors, it may be best to wait on the electrical work .. why risk it after having your floors redone .. if you can, give it an extra week.

We also used the water based finish. We could walk on the final coat in socks in 3-4 hours and we can put furniture on it in 48 hours, area rugs in a week.

Just one warning...if you are having oil based stain...becareful with food being open, especially the fridge. We had to throw out EVERYTHING
But out floors look GREAT
