I was thinking about doing wood floors in our house, but I have two 80 lb. dogs and I'm not sure of the damage they may do? Anyone have any experience with wood floors and dogs?
Thanks.

Re: Wood Floors and Dogs???
We have mostly wood floors in the house we're in now and we have a lab. You can tell there are a lot of scratches on the floor depending on how the light hits it and if you look closely. Our friend who has a dog experienced the same thing on their wood floors. I don't know if and how you would be able to get around it because of their nails.

I would never do it again! We only have wood floors in our kitchen and its so hard to keep nice with a dog between the scratches and all the she tracks in from outside.

We just had our wood floors redone so I can let you know how it goes!! They looked bad before so we really don't know how much damage was from the dogs.
They look beautiful right now, I just hope it lasts!

Re: Wood Floors and Dogs???
It's funny you posted this. We are have two 100 lb labs and we are in the process of installing wood floors in on family room (we already did our living room and our dining room already had wood floors).
In the living room and family there was carpet and we decided we were sick of cleaning up the accidents (they are very good good dogs, but they do have accidents when their tummy isn't feeling well) on a carpet.
With tile (which we have in our kitchen and where the dogs are most of the time) and wood floors it's an easy clean-up.
So, that's why we are converting our entire downstairs to wood floors/tile.

Re: Wood Floors and Dogs???
When my guy was a puppy he DESTROYED the beautiful parquet floors in our kitchen. Scratched the floor to hell....but that was part of his separation anxiety. I can't imagine him doing that now.

Our floors are a MESS!! But true ... case of accidents, it beats the three or four area rugs we once had in the dining room that ended up in the trash

Re: Wood Floors and Dogs???
Our natural floors are kind of beat up, and our largest dog is a 28 lb Pug. (he was over 30, but he has lost some weight). The laminate floors hold up much better, and they clean up easier too.
