Woodlands Brides (Past and Present) - Menu?

Hey ladies,

Just curious what everyone decided on for their menu in terms of appetizer and entree choices…and how you liked your decision. Do you have recommendations?

Did anyone wish they had chosen something else? Did anyone try to get a third course? I know the cocktail hour and the portions are good, but i wonder if an appetizer and entree is enough for the sit down part.

Thanks!

We did the warm pear salad which is amazing. For entrees, we did the sea bass, filet and some chicken that I don't remember! I feel like the majority of people ordered the sea bass and the filet, both of which were amazing! I didn't really get to eat at cocktail hour but heard good things about it! I did eat the short ribs and they were delicious as was the calamari. I think it is enough food because people told me they could barely eat their dinner because they were so full from cocktail hour. Plus, I think the dessert plate is a nice added bonus to the wedding cake. Hope that helps!

I was at the tasting last night and was a little bummed when I left. I didn't think the food was anything special. The plating was terrible. It looked like everything was just thrown on the pates. The sea bass was a little undercooked. I think that food is one of the most important parts of the wedding and I'm getting nervous. Did anyone else think this?? Or am I being too critical.

FH and I are getting married at the other Woodlands and we had our tasting July 2nd and we loved everything we ate!

From the looks of the previous posts, we had a few different items to taste than what was offered last night but we still loved everything!

I went to a tasting in November or December and the food was PHENOMENAL. We were disappointed in the sea bass and the duck this time…they were the two highlights last time and this time we were not pleased. I can tell they changed how they cooked it though, so maybe they would consider cooking it the way they used to again. I agree the sea bass was very undercooked, and the duck was better as a breast last time than sliced this time…it was tough and rubbery, and fatty.

I found the chicken and the filet very good though, as well as the risottos. Maybe it was just an off night?

We were initially turned off by the tasting. I don't think the tasting does the food justice. I'm not sure if the regular chef isn't the one doing the tasting or what but don't worry! Our guests are still talking about the food! Especially the sea bass!

I'm glad that you say that, although my concern is that we had the tasting around the time that you had your wedding, and we thought it was great then…it seems like they've changed how they cook those two items and maybe some others.

Hopefully you're right though and the tasting doesn't do it justice. We were truly wowed at the first one so it's obvious they have the culinary capabilities.

This makes me feel better. I am waiting for a call back from the GM. I will mention to him about the cooking of the sea bass and let you know. What about the plating? Did everything look a mess to you?

Yes please let me know what you hear. I thought the presentation for some of them was good…like the shrimp risotto with that nice swirl of pesto. But for the sea bass i thought it wasn't a good pairing with potatoes, and the dish looked very bland because there was no color. Everything else i thought was fine.

I agree with the other ladies who were at the tasting last night. I was bummed about the duck and sea bass. I'm having over 200 people also and there def weren't that many people there last night, so I'm very worried about the quality on my wedding day. I think we should all really voice our concerns to the GM and see what they have to say, because at this point I don't want to choose the sea bass, but what are the other fish options like? It could be worse. I also, agree with the sloppy plating. I also was looking at the menu for everything we got and I think we were even missing some components of the sides. I dunno we can say it was an off night, but I don't want my wedding day to be another. Let me know if you hear from the GM. I'm going to try to get in contact when I have some more free time.

I mean...don't be nervous. My friend was at a wedding at The Woodlands on Saturday night and she raved about the food, especially her filet mignon. I think we all had really high expectations for last night and were let down a little. Even their stations at the bridal showcases were good. Something was just off last night. I dunno...

Sorry I didn't mean to take over your whole feed about the tasting. I'd actually like to know what you originally set out to find out!!

Don't be sorry! I'm concerned about it too and so are others. Hopefully there's a reason or they'll give us some reassurance

I'm not a Woodlands bride, but my best friend was, she got married last month. She also had the pear salad, but it was served during my MOH toast, so I didn't get to try it, though it looked good! I had the salmon. It was ok, it came with some sort of potato, which I didn't care for because it was a bit dry. I might choose a different fish, or at least choose a different side for it. FH had the filet and loved it, my dad had the chicken with mozzarella and penne and said it was good (which is a HUGE compliment from him).

I did find the dessert plate to be a bit small, but that might just be cause I'm kind of an oinker. The cocktail hour food was GREAT, best penne ala vodka I've ever had. The mussels were also awesome. FH liked the sliders.

All in all, the food was great and the place is absolutely beautiful. The drinks were super strong and yummy.

I'm happy to ask her any specific questions if anyone would like. I know she worked with Debbie and liked her.

We picked almost all the shrimp choices for the passed hor dourves bc the bacon wrapped shrimp was amazing. Pasta station carving station Asian stir fry hot seafood mashed potato bar

Pear salad with goat cheese substituted

French cut chicken from our tasting
Chilean sea bass( what fiancé and I will be eating)
Filet mignon

They were very accommodating at our last meeting I felt like anything we wanted they were willing to do ( we didn't have any major requests just little things, like certain types of wine adding a duck for his dad)
