Woodlands Brides...Question
Hey ladies,We're booked with the Woodlands and we went to the fall bridal showcase the other day... FH and I were a bit dissapointed in the food. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. There's a good chance that I just have too high standards, and I wanted to know what you thought of your big day and/or tasting.
My mom told me today she heard from a few people recently that they weren't impressed with the food there...someone went for brunch there and their food came out cold...another said the food wasn't good.
Getting a little concerned

Woodlands Brides...Question
I went to a wedding there pretty recently. The dinner/ cocktail hour was fine it tasted good. The only thing that stood out, as you mentioned, is that it was on the cold side. During cocktail hour too, the pasta at the pasta station was very very cold almost frozen and the appetizer course (a balsamic ravioli) came out cold too. I sent it back and they remade it no problem the service was great....I hate to scare / stress you but just figured I'd be honest so you can really hound them about it before the big day. It could just be that they were having a bad day.

I was there too. Personally, I felt they didn't have the greatest options at this bridal show. I was at the one in April also and I really liked everything I tried. There was a stuffed tilapia that i thought was great and i remember noting how i was happy that all the food was still hot.
Everyone I know who has ever been to an event at the Woodlands has always said that the food was fantastic, so I'm not really concerned.
Oh p.s. I didn't like the crab cakes though!

I wasn't impressed either. The pasta was too hard but the sauce tasted ok. Nothing was crazy good.

I went to the spring showcase and thought the food was great. My mom has been to several office functions there in the smaller room upstairs (christmas parties, etc.) and said the food was phenomenal. I don't think we have anything to worry about!

Sorry the showcase gave you guys mixed feelings. I Was there too and thought the food was better than that last showcase. We tasted the japanese station and the spanish and thought both were delicious. in fact i brought my two friends and they said they loved the food. People are always going to have opinions...bad and good. Having high expectations is good but sometimes it could drive you crazy like it has to me! I have learned to take it easy just a bit and im doing better. Btw they have an upcoming tasting november...

Yeah i mean i didn't think it was bad... the food was good it just didn't blow me away the way i was hoping so i think my high expectations ruined things. I wasn't a fan of the asian station really but the mexican station was good. I also thought the eggplant parm was good. I didn't try the pasta station but that's typical...i really liked the passed hors d'eouvres i tried (the veggie dumplings) and the cold table was good as well.I'm probably just working myself up over nothing.
By the way, when are we supposed to do the tastings? A few months before the wedding right? i feel like November would be too early for my september wedding.. what if they change the menu by then?

4-6 months before you wedding. Yeah, november is too early. The tastings are listed on their webpage. I'm getting married in march so most likely we will be going sometime after the holidays. You probably can book your tasting sometime early spring...

My dad always says that the only thing that matters is the food at the cocktail hour and the strength of the drinks. After that, most people won't be too particular.

Yeah, next month is too early. We'll prob be at the same tasting next year!
Did you guys try the cakes and desserts too? I don't even like chocolate cake and I thought it was good.

Looking forward to it!I thought the desserts were good... my fiance loved the chocolate-covered cannolis!
I was so full from attempting to try EVERYTHING that i couldn't even eat much of the dessert, but i did try the chocolate cake. Wish i had tried the cheesecake dessert. Seems like the bakery they use is really good...i looked at their cake options and they had a TON!

FYI I spoke to the Woodlands and shared my concerns... They were super accommodating and arranged for us to come and sample the food on an off day. The effort they made really put me at ease and I feel confident that we made the right choice with them... I'll report back on the food after we taste!

I was at a wedding there back in August and thought the food was really good, better than at some other wedding halls I've been to recently.

Re: Woodlands Brides...Question
Food is very important to us. So, before I booked at The Woodlands, I asked to attend one of the tastings. I thought I would be able to taste more but what I did taste was amazing. The filet was cooked perfectly and the fish was delicious. I was also at the showcase last week and do not think that it was an accurate representation of their level of quality. I've heard nothing but great things about the food from people who have attended weddings at The Woodlands. I'm having my actual tasting on Nov 7th so I will write again after that!
