Wording for engagement announcement

D-Day or should I say E-Day is coming near. I have decided to how to announce my engagement to my family. My FH and I are going to take a pic together and make postcards out of them and hand them out on Christmas. I'd like to hear everyone's idea of wording. Im thinking along the lines of something casual like

Season's greetings from the newly engaged Chris and Jenn

We're happy to announce our engagment

Something along the lines like that. Is there any kind of etiquette on how to announce an engagement in writing?

When we announced our engagement to our friends and aquaintances via e-mail from the Domincan Republic (the day after e-day), we made it fun by saying: The Future Mr. and Mrs. ---- would like to announce their engagement.....details......

When we got home we did a fromal printed announcement. It read:

Gina and Alonzo ----
are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter Jeannie-Marie to Christopher Michael ----
July 29, 2003
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

They were postcard size with a pic of us and a heart and ribbon border. They were mailed within 4 weeks of our engagement.
