Wording the Baptism Invites...Help :)

Wording the Baptism Invites...Help :)

It's official, John Anthony's Christening is on March 16th...We're taking the restaurant at Papa Joe's. I looked at the party room that we were in, and its just WAY TOOO BIGGG for 50-60 people..
The restaurant felt cozier...

Anyway.

I want to let people know that
Since the church is at 1:30
and the restaurant is 5-9pm

We'll be at my house from lets say 3-4:30, and we'll have cold cuts, veggies/dip, cheese/crackers.
How do i say 'if youre coming to church....'

and I assume i'll have to put directions to the church as well, correct ?

The way my family is, especially with Smithtown being the boonies for everyone, only my immediate family will most likely come to the church.... But I'd like to give everyone the option anyway... :)

Any advice from the moms out there ?
(come on Claud, I know you have advice for me
)

Thanks !!!!!!

Anna you are too cute....

I didn't get too fancy with the invites...I was going to order pre-printed ones and the whole nine, but I was so disorganized when we first moved back here that I kept changing the day and then ran out of time! Anyway....

I just put the date/time of church and then 'please join us for dinner' but, we did not have a lot of time in between the church and the dinner. It was pretty much immediately following, so by the time the ceremony was done, we had just enough time to drive from Seaford back to East Meadow.

You could say:

John Anthony's Baptism at XXX RC Church: Saturday, March 16, 2003 at 1:30 PM

Snack and refreshments immediately following at Anna and John's house.

Please join us for dinner at Papa Joe's Italian Restaurant at 5:00 PM.

How does that sound? I tried!

I think Claud put it correctly!!

On a personal note! I hate when people don't go to the actual ceremony wether it be a wedding or Christening. Why do people feel we want to pay for their meal for doing nothing!! What the hell is an extra hour out of their life??? I will now step of my soap box!!

Tracy, I totally agree with you! At our wedding, most of my 'Suffolk' relatives did not attend our ceremony, which really disappointed me.

However, almost everyone that was invited to Paul's christening attended the church.

I agree that everyone should attend both. But I have to admit, I dont always go to the mass, for weddings and christenings. Especially if theres a big block of time in between and its out of town...
This is my first christening so we shall see..

So now I have to put directions to my house, the church AND the restaurant ?

Anna, to solve the direction problem, you could just list the addresses of each location, and then people will have to Mapquest it themselves or use the good 'ole Rand McNally...they're all grown-ups!

Or, just put at the bottom - RSVP with Anna by Feb. 28th - directions are available.

Or, simply - 'Call for Directions' but then if people get your answering machine, you have to call everyone back w/directions. If you want, I can type up the directions for you, and then you just have to print one copy and make the rest at Kinko's.

Here's the directions for Papa Joe's - all you have to do is cut and paste:

From the LIE: To Exit 52 South (Commack Road). Go 4 miles to #450. Papa Joe's/Deer Park Manor is on the right side.

From the Southern State Pkwy: To Exit 39 North (Deer Park Avenue). Bare right at Commack Road to #450. Papa Joe's/Deer Park Manor is on the left side.

From Sunrise Hwy: To Exit 40 North (Rte. 231/Deer Park Avenue). Bare right at Commack Road to #450. Papa Joe's/Deer Park Manor is on the left side.
