Re: Work invitation dilemma

Etiquette says that you are supposed to, and that it is a big error not to.

However, I'm shunning etiquette and am only inviting my work colleagues. But it's because I have limited space for work friends, and if I don't invite their spouses, then I can invite more work people.

I went to each of the invited colleagues and explained the situation just so they were aware it was only for them and not their spouse. None of them upset, and they actually said they didn't think their spouse would be invited.

Work invitation dilemma

If you were just inviting 1 coworker then it would be weird because they wouldn't know anybody but since it's a group of them I think it's totally fine to invite them without a date because they can just hang out with each other

Work invitation dilemma

I am inviting several of my friends from my internship at Stony Brook hospital last year, so I guess you could consider them colleagues. I explained that I really wanted them there and due to me and FH having huge families, space is limited, so I couldn't invite their significant others. They totally understood and were honored that I asked them.!

Work invitation dilemma

As long as there's more than two, you are fine not inviting guests with them. That way they'll know people, and not need the +1

Work invitation dilemma

If you are limited space and you are inviting a group from work, I am sure if you discuss with them they will understand and be more than happy to attend.

I think it's fine. They'll probably have a ton of fun!

Work invitation dilemma

I think I'm going to have the same dilemma when the time comes. I'm relieved that most people think it's okay to invite without a guest.
