Work Issues

Work Issues

So, this morning I asked my boss (who is the manager of HR) if I could take all of next week off instead of just Thursday and Friday. I explained to him that I'm really crazed and there's still a lot to do that final week, doctor appts, etc. and that I'd be useless next week b/c of all the excitement. He said, oh no need to explain, this is an important time in your life, I have no problems with you taking the whole week off. So, then I told another person in my office, just out of courtesy and she looks at me like I'm doing something wrong and then says, well if you really need it. I'm like ok whatever...it's my vacation time, I can use it however I like! How many people can really work and function and concentrate 5 days before their wedding?!?! This way I don't have to feel rushed and crazed and when May 12th arrives, I'll be nice and calm!

I totally agree with you. I plan on taking the week before and the week after the wedding off.

My company gives us 1 extra paid week vacation when you get married and it must be used within 30 days of your marriage, so that's why I'm using it the week before the wedding. We're taking a 2 week honeymoon anyway.

Wooohoooooo!!!!

Wow, that is SOOOO nice of your company!!!!

I'm getting married the Friday after Columbus day, we have off ON Columbus day and I'm taking the Wednesday and Thursday off before my wedding... so I'm only coming in on Tuesday of that week.

Seriously its great! They do it when you have kids too for the men. They give them an extra week to stay home with his wife.

I think you are very smart to take off the week before your big day!

I TOTALLY agree with you. A month ago I would have said you do not need 5 days - but I wish I had taken this whole week off! As it is I can't - but I did take off today and I will be off on Friday. But I am running around like a chicken without my head!!

Good for you taking the extra time. It is your vacation time and you're entitled to take it whether you're getting married or planning to sit on the couch and do nothing. Sorry that other woman made you feel bad, but you're right, you won't be much use with all you have going on. Enjoy every minute of it.
