Do you think employers would not hire a person (of course they are not going to come out and say it) if a person comes on an interview pregnant? Say the position does not start for a few months after the interview, meaning the person will have given birth already, do you think just the fact that they are pregnant would detur a future employer from hiring them?

Re: Work related/pregency question
i think if they interview 2 people with the same amount of experience and skill, and one of those people is pregnant, they would def hire the non-pregnant one.
but as you said, they'd never admit it.

It's not right, but yes, they'll most likely be passed over for the position.

Yes, it's horrible but yes.
And if you put yourself in the employer's shoes you probably would too.

Re: Work related/pregency question
ok here is a trickier question.
if you went for the interview and you were not showing yet, would you NOT tell them you were pregnant to better the chances of getting the job, then tell them after?

Yes I think that can be the case. Not always but often enough.

Re: Work related/pregency question
yes i definitely think so despite how terrible it is.
My SIL was applying for a promotion at her job and knew she was pregnant and didn't tell them until 2 months after she was given the promotion because she didnt want them to not consider her because she was preggers.
Yeah, they probably would because they would figure that after the baby is born, the mother will be taking days off when the baby is sick, needs to go to the doc, nanny flakes, etc.

Re: Work related/pregency question
I think they would not hire a pregnant person. Its the terrible truth. They would be thinking of you taking days off to care for the child or possibly daycare issues.
Not I would not tell them i was pregnant if i could help it. When i got the job and started to show if i was questioned i would tell them i had no idea

yep i'm in the same boat, we are not going to try until i get my promotion for this exact reason, its horrible but true.

Re: Work related/pregency question
Yes. Why would they hire someone they will have to pay a LOT of money to to leave a job for 3 months?
hiring=money training=money desk=money IT=money Mat leave = LOTS of money (temps, double of someone else having to to the job) mom wants to leave early when she comes back=money.
