work vent (long, sorry)
I have to start off by saying that I LOVE my job. I am a teaching assistant for a first grade class at a Montessori school. Its a lot of fun and I love the kids. BUT, I'm so aggrivated with the other teachers, TA's and directors!!!
When I first started, I was known as Ms. Nancy, the American girl, because honestly I'm the only American born person there, except two other guy TA's in anther building. Most of my coworkers are from India or Asia. (Not that this matters, but I'm just paining a picture.) So I stood out, and everyone was so excited that I was from NY. I'm the kind of person that's very open and I'll tell anyone anything. I quickly learned that there were a lot of 'yenta's' (sp?) there, so I started keeping my mouth shut about personal stuff.
I had been asked my the owner/principal of the school to take the Montessori training this summer so I can become a Montessori teacher and have my own class next year. I kept brushing it off because I know that we're moving back to NY or possibly China if FH's job takes him there for a couple of months. I didn't want to let on about that because I didn't want them to give my job away or something. So I kept saying, 'I'm still thinking about it' or something cheesey. The thing is about taking the training is that they pay for it, but you have to work for them for 2 years afterwards or pay it back. Since I know we're not staying, there's no way I can pay it back, and I'd much rather go back to school for a teaching degree for public schools.
So about 2 months ago people kept coming up to me saying, 'I heard you're taking the Montessori training this summer' and stuff like that. I was like, 'Well, I'm not really sure yet' or something to brush it off again. About 3 weeks ago the Assistant Director came to me and told me how happy they are with me there and they really want me to take the training because they'd love to give me my own class. I said I was flattered, but there is a chance that my FH's job might get transferred so until I know about that, I don't want to make a decission. She was nice ans she said just to let them know when I find out.
Since then, people have been coming up to me saing that they heard I was leaving!! The biggest yenta there asked me this last week, and I got kind of annoyed saying that it wasn't true. Today she comes up and askes whats up with the moving plans. I said I didnt' know. She asked what we were doing with our cars. I said that if we move anywhere I'd get rid of my car cause its junk, but we'd keep FH's car. She asked what kind, I said Infinity (I didn't tell her waht kind) and she asked me how much it was!!!!
Later, some teacher whos name I don't even know asked, 'When are you leaving?'. I was like, are you kidding? don't people have a life? I know i stick out anc all, but please! Ugh.
