I don't think I am a bridezilla nor am I being all that demanding of my BM's or my wedding in general. I am not spending loads of money comparatively BUT I am picky about certain things, especially when it comes to the ambiance and creative aspects of the wedding.
I am really looking forward to the church ceremony and decided to spend extra money on a solo violinist as I walk down the aisle. Now FH's sister, once again, is demanding that his nephew's wife bring the baby. FH's nephew is in the wedding and it will be a long day: 2:30 ceremony, 4pm Old Westbury Gardens, 6:30pm cocktail hour and reception until 11:30pm.
I hate to sound mean but why bring a baby to an all day affair especially since the father is very involved in the wedding? Mostly, I am freaked out that this baby will gurgle and cry throughout my entire wedding ceremony that will be videotaped and I hate to be the bad guy but I wanted the solo violinist to sound beautiful for a reason.
Some people are so laid back they don't understand so I'm not getting the validation I need but I am so annoyed, first that I am being bullied into this and that the baby will cry and ruin my ceremony.
Does anyone out there get it? Maybe it's stress in general but I feel so irked I could spit! My mother and sister are pissed too.

Re: Worked up about baby at my church ceremony
I had no children in my ceremony or invited to the reception.
Several people bought their children to my church however. I didn't notice at all! You will be so wrapped up in the ceremony trust me, you won't even notice who is there or not.
The world could have blown up while we were standing on that altar and it wouldn't have mattered.
Technically when you get married in a church, it is an open public forum. Anyone walking by could decide to come in. You can't control it.
Try not to sweat the small stuff - your wedding ceremony will be beautiful.

Re: Worked up about baby at my church ceremony
Thanks. I think I was picturing a catastrophe as can be my nature and I am anxious about things turning out right. I pictured the baby wailing away as I walk down the aisle and/or am saying the vows. But, that does help as you've been thru it. I will probably be so caught up as you say, I won''t notice. It's hard though as I have to come across as the bad guy and I feel stressed as it is. I don't need to feel guilty and then frustrated that this was put on me as I wouldn't boldly demand that of someone else on their special day. Thanks

I totally understand how you feel. I dont understand why anyone would want to bring a baby. FH has two kids and we NEVER bring them to weddings...and they are 10 and 6!

Re: Worked up about baby at my church ceremony
My sister's sister in law just got married and my sister just had my nephew 6 months prior ... Her sister in law did as the baby to be inthe wedding.. he looked sooo cute is his tux i went to the chruch to see them and the baby did start to get fussy and cry.. i like darted across the chruch and took the baby from my brother in law and stood in a waiting room where the baby couldnt distrub the wedding.. it all worked out good! but i think if u have people who are not in the wedding and are family to the kids they will most likly do the same thing! As much as we dont want to hear a screaming baby in our memory.. the people holding the baby dont want to be stared are either.
ok i would like some advice on this to.. its very hard to make this decidsion! Our wedding is on New years eve.. which i would think parents would want to be with their kids thats night how can i not invite kids on new years.. is that mean.. or is it mean for the parents who want a night out with there husband/wife on new years for a change.. Our place said the little kids he will put all kid food in the bridal suite for them where they can eat and have a good time... ahhh i dont know if i should say bring kids or dont! i really dont mind them being there for the reception its cute to see them running around sometimes they make a party!

It's your decision if they bring the baby to the reception.
It's the parents decision if they bring the baby to the ceremony.

I don't mind the reception so for the New Year's Eve party, it seems the same to me and it will be easier on the parent's as well but that's your call. Your not wrong for what you want or feel.
My problem was I was picturing a catastrophe and asking opinions from friends who are generally more low key then me so I was getting what seemed like BS answers saying, Oh, I don't mind in the least if the baby is bawling while I walk down the aisle or am exchanging vows. And, that was making me feel like a bad person, selfish bridezilla and feeling like they are trying to be more together than I am when in fact, I think it's natural to feel a bit perturbed if that were the situation.

Re: Worked up about baby at my church ceremony
I think you are totally justified in your reasoning. We are not having babies at our wedding either. We started out with no children except our own which are in the wedding but we then changed that to allow older children.
I am a mother I dont want kids to be around me and dirty my dress is that really bad
