I automatically work every third weekend in a year. I saw in advance that I was scheduled to work on my wedding day. I speak to the scheduler and she tells me she could not do anything about it and 'good luck trying to find someone to work for you that weekend!' What is going on here? She was just married last year, I thought she would just make a change@! I think I'm just going to quit my job for July!!

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
I guess someone might be able to switch with me. But asking my coworkers is similar to pulling teeth. I've tried switching before and I get flat out NO! And it feels like a punch in the belly! I go out of my way for others, but it does not happen to me. I am grateful for the few times someone can help. I feel so stuck and bothered. Just don't know what to do.

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
well, what do you do? without you is it really a big blow to the business/company or whatever you work for
usually when you can verify your getting married most employers are more than thrilled to give you a sick day, personal day, off...

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
I work every 5th weekend, and I was scheduled to work on my wedding day also. My coworkers are not good about swtitiching, but I convinced one to switch. Ask super early- I asked for May in January when no one really had plans yet. They'll understand its your wedding.

OMG!! That is just so wrong. It's not like you are asking for the day off because you want to go out for the day. I mean you are getting married. HELLO do then think you are going to change your wedding to work.

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
wow I would see if someone can switch, there has to be someone who has a little decency being that it is your wedding. And if not-just dont go it. Tough on them. YOu gave them warning, they know it was your wedding...if it was me I would quit

I would tell her your wedding is at 12:00pm and you will not be there-don't ask for the day off-Tell them-YOU ARE NOT WORKING! What are they joking???? Having you work on your wedding day?

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
That is so ridiculous! Is there anyone you could ask now since it's pretty far in advance? Can you take a vacation/personal day? If neither of those is an opion I think i would quit too. Good Luck!

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
OMG I can not believe that!! I am outraged just reading that, lol... Like what the hell... it's your wedding day!! I would just tell them I won't be here and that's the end of it... it's not like you didn't tell them so that is their problem if they didn't schedule to make up for your absence! And if they have a problem with that I'd quit! (That's just me though... I have a short temper when it comes to things like that!) And if you didn't want to quit... use a sick day, who cares if it's obvious! You're not going to miss your wedding to work, are they on drugs??!!!

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
I am completely outraged that they are not willing to work with you!! It;s not like you are taking off just of the heck of it, it's your wedding day!!
There are 4 of us in my department at work, 3 of us requested off for the wekk of 4th of july which is when I will be on my honeymoon and even though the other 2 girls have been with the company for 15 years and I have been there 1 my boss asked them to compromise and one of them changed their vaction to the week after. If they are not willing to help you out for your special day I would seriously consider if that is a place you would want to work at!! Just my opinion!
