I automatically work every third weekend in a year. I saw in advance that I was scheduled to work on my wedding day. I speak to the scheduler and she tells me she could not do anything about it and 'good luck trying to find someone to work for you that weekend!' What is going on here? She was just married last year, I thought she would just make a change@! I think I'm just going to quit my job for July!!

I would tell her your wedding is at 12:00pm and you will not be there-don't ask for the day off-Tell them-YOU ARE NOT WORKING! What are they joking???? Having you work on your wedding day?
thats what i would say....tell them you are NOT working... period.
if not...get a new job!! PPL would be lucky to have you!

That was so rude of her. It's march & you are giving her months of notice fr goodness sakes!! I can't stand when people aren't sympathetic to others during certain situations. I think you should try to find another job. Did you recently just start there b/c her attitude towards this could be a clear sign of more negative things to come.

Thats disgusting. If no one will switch with you, I would start looking for another job. Really. I would be absolutely livid if I were you!

I agree with the poster that said to ask early to see if you can switch. If that doesn't work, request the time off again with some concession to your boss--making up the time some other weekend, taking leave that weekend without pay, etc. If your manager agrees, be sure to get it writing!

Oh my goodness!!! See if someone will switch with you, maybe you can work the week before. If no one will cover your shift you work with some pretty insensitive people.

I agree, people mhave personal lives and it's not like yoru wedding is something you decided to plan with in a few weeks , are they joking?
I think it's terrible, & the scheduler is obvil. a miserable person that wants to make others as miserable as she she, I'm so sorry that this is going on.

Can't you go to someone that she reports to? HR? Make sure you present your case well. Someone should teach her a lesson!

Re: Working on my wedding day?!~
AHH! If it is too obvious to call out sick - would I still get into trouble with my job? I'm just worried about being black-balled, meaning, that if I leave I would not be able to work anywhere because of calling out sick for my wedding day.
