Good afternoon ladies. I am newly engaged and we are trying to figure out a date by the type of place that we can afford. Right now I am thinking a Sunday afternoon in Feb 2009. Would love to have something during a warmer month but know that the prices go up with the temperature.
We are looking for an inexpensive place for about 50-55pp. About 80-100 people with a ceremony at the hall...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Working with a really tight budget
Welcome and congratulations on your engagement!
I don't have any hall recommendations off the top of my head, but I'll think about it!
Stewart Manor CC might be able to work with that price on a Sunday, but I'm not sure if they have a ceremony location (They might!)
Good luck!

Re: Working with a really tight budget
What you should do is go to the bigger halls that accommodate a lot of parties or to a less expensive hall and present them with that and see if they can work with you. Here are a few suggestions: Cresthollow Fox Hollow Westbury Manor Leonards of Great Neck Watermill Woodbury Country Club Meadow Club Miller Place Inn Coral House Timber Point CC

You might also add the Swan Club to that list.
There are also lots of very nice VFW-type halls that could accomodate weddings, like the Elks Club in Lynbrook or the Firehouse in Wantagh.

Re: Working with a really tight budget
Thank you so much ladies
I have gotten a few prices from some halls and so far The Harbor Club is the best price. I am so happy that all the reviews that I have read on here so far about this hall are all A+ service.
I think we might set up an appointment to see them in the near future.

I've been there for a wedding - the food was great! Where is the ceremony in the event of rain or bad weather?

I honestly dont remember.
I know James mentioned it, but I wasnt sure about doing my ceremony there or at the church.. so it wasnt something I was concerned about until I thought it would be an issue.
But when I have my papers infront of me. I will def. check that out...
Im curious myself now.

I was just curious, no big deal. My brother and SIL had their wedding there, but they were married at the church. The food was great!

for a wedding that size you could also check out the Irish Coffee Pub, Three Village Inn or even Danfords.

Re: Working with a really tight budget
I am getting married at the Swan Club and it is very reasonable. You will probably get a really good price if you are willing to have a late fall/winter wedding. I am having around 100 people and the room is really pretty with a fireplace. There is also a very nice indoor area to have your ceremony rain or shine. It was so nice that I'm having my ceremony there too. Good luck with your search!!

Re: Working with a really tight budget
I got married in mid-August on a Saturday (day!) at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn.
$45-$55 per person (depending on menu).

Re: Working with a really tight budget
You might want to consider Milleridge Carriage or Cottage. I got a decent deal for a Sat night - so perhaps it will be a good price for a day wedding.
There are price points for every vendor I am finding - be it flowers, photos, reception hall. Good feeling - you will be surprised.
Best of Luck and Congrats!

Re: Working with a really tight budget
First of all Congratulations on your engagement!!!! I think from halls that i researched it is definitely doable for $50-55 per person on a sunday afternoon in Feb. I think most reduce prices during off times...february. I would try Milleridge Carriage House, George Washington Manor ( both have different menu packages) and the Swan Club. Good Luck!!

Re: Working with a really tight budget
I got a quote from FOX HOLLOW at 116 including tax and tip with a lot of extras. and that was for a Saturday night.
Try there. Depending on where you are located I would also suggest Windows on the Lake its a nice place and its more moderate in price.

Re: Working with a really tight budget
Thank you all so much. I am going to look into all the halls that you've posted.
After a long talk last night we are going to try for a Friday night in feb/09. I hope that I can still find a good rate.
Thanks again
