I can't sleep and am starting to worry about my church. Here's the situation: FILs have been going to this church for years and FMIL is a warden there. Because of this, we're able to use it without a rental fee, just for a donation. We also didn't look at other churches b/c FH and I aren't religious and the church itself wasn't that important to me. BUT, it only seats about 100 people max, and 150 are invited to the wedding. FH says it's not a big deal, because usually people don't come to the church and just go to the reception. Is this true? He also said we could tell our friends to skip the church service, but I think that's tacky. I'm just worried that the church won't hold everyone and my guests will be upset if they can't get in. Am I freaking out over nothing? Is FH right that people won't come to the church? Opinions on what to do?

Well your FH is right that not EVERYONE goes to the church...
I mean if some people have to stand, I don't think its the end of the world...
Don't stress about it! It will all work out!
Oh... Also... your Bridal party doesn't sit... so you can count them off the list, just in case you were including them... Don't they stand in the front!
Maybe that will knock a few people off hehehe.

I wouldn't tell anyone to skip the church. Not everyone will come to the church. Don't worry

I can tell you that we had invited over 200 ppl and around 160 came to our reception. Our church was full (which I had the SAME situation as you and we used my DH's church with a church that sat 96 or so people). It was GREAT because our church was full (I'm sure more ppl could've fit but ppl kind of shifted to be a little more comfy as it started). A lot of people didn't come to our church- our ceremony started at 3 and our cocktail hour started at 7. HTH!!!

the big thing is that you're inviting 150, and according to past brides, about 20% decline the invitation.... so you'll get about 120 at the reception.... after you tack on the people skipping the church, and the late arrivals, you'll definitely be fine.

We're actually inviting 190, in order to guarantee 150 for the RH. But I know for a fact that AT LEAST 25 of those aren't coming (my midwestern relatives who my mother made me invite). I guess it'll all be fine, and this will be a reason for people to get to the church on time!
