Worrying about Macys Registry...

Everytime I look at my Macys registry the prices are different. Ex: today our Lenox glasses are $40 each, and yesterday they were $25 each, buy 3 get one free. Their prices change at least once a week! Usually there is a standard 'sale price' but there are occasionally sales on top of that, or days where the items is listed for full price.

I'm really afriad someone is going to look on my Macy's registry and accidentally buy something for full price (which is hugely overinflated). I know it's a gift, but if someone plans to give a $200 gift I'd rather have them buy $200 of stuff than a $90 item that is listed as $199 for 3 days.

Do you think people realize that the prices fluctuate and buy accordingly?

i wouldnt worry, if people over pay im sure they can get an adjustment

Maybe your bridal party could spread the word to check for sales. If people wait 'tll the last minute though (usually they do), unfortunately they will have to order/buy it when it's the price it is when they need it. Have you found this to be an issue in the stores too because sometimes the online thing is easier, but I feel like their prices fluctuate more in general? Good luck!

i know what you mean.. people will end up spending what they want to... sale or not.. i am not sure of their return policy though.. do you get the regular price or the sale price.. and how would they know??

They always have sales - you can call urlocal macys and they will call ur mom or a designated person to make them aware of an upcoming sales. thats what my macys does

I dont know, it makes me not want to be registered at Macys. I mean our silverware set is $149.99 and 'orig price' is $275. I've seen it as $275 a few times. Our down comforter is $299, and I've seen it at $279 lately but also at $500!

If someone wants to give a $500 gift I wouldnt really want them to just pay $500 for the down comforter bc $500 can buy a lot more. Plus we have no idea how generous their gift really was.

I wouldn't worry about it. I know I'm not. People that shop at Macy's know about their sales so they'll go when there is a sale.

I totally get what you mean. Try not to worry- hopefully people watch and try to get good deals (or the most for their money). Usually people know that there are sales. But even if they dont- try not to worry! There is not much you can do about it!

My Macy's registry is very small because of that!! I actually switched alot of stuff over to my BBB registry. It really bothers me that the prices change sooo much!!

me too. i registered for my china on purpose at macys b/c i told fh we weren't going over $125 a place setting... a week later it went to $135! same thing happened with the towels and sheets. they went back down, but i agree they fluctuate. whatever overlapped (like our luggage) I moved to BBB.

i only registered there b/c fh's cousin gets a discount and i figured it was easier on his side of the family

we dont have much on our Macy's registry for that reason, just the overflow BBB didn't have.

We have:
- the all-purpose bowls from our china set that BBB doesnt have for some reason. I might call and see if they carry it even though its not listed on their website
- the matching crystal stemware for our china set that BBB also didnt have when we registered
- nice bedding
- down comforter we liked
- silverware set (purchased)
- a few plates (cheap)

the pricier items make me nervous though

I feel the same way - some of those deals are amazing. Macy's bridal registry has sales on things that people could not buy regularly... so they save even more money. I think it is great! My 25 dollar a glass stemware was on sale for 13 dollars this week!

All of my relatives and friends know that macys has huge sales...that's why we registered there to begin with. Don't worry, unless your guests wait until the very last minute to buy something, they can catch a good sale price.

I totally agree! Also, I think people innately look for sales and want to get the most for their money....I have noticed that at macy's the sales fluctuate, and there's never a time when nothing is on sale--it pretty much flip flops--one week, this half of the registry will be on sale, the next week, the other stuff is. I really wouldn't worry about it!
