Worst day of work, EVER!

Worst day of work, EVER!

I just strated a new job on March 10. I really love it there, but this is really out of control.

There are 6 people in my office, there were 7, but one was let go shortly after I started. Ther girl that I work directly with is one of those girls that has the potentional to be b*tchy, but she is usually nice to me. Moody, the word I am looking for is moody...Moody WITH mood swings, it depends the way teh wind blows.

Well, she went on vacation about a week after I started. She was gone for two weeks. Because we are the only two in our department, when one is out the other stays late. In those two weeks, I developed a very good relationship with my manager. He is only 26 and we have a lot in common. He just got married, wants teh house, still dwells on teh single life and so on...

The other girl comes back from vacation and she wasn;t very pleasant. Days pass and she warms back up. In teh last two weeks, she constantly brings up how much she dislikes teh place. She doesn;t go in to specifics, but she is pretty firm in saying so. I blow it off...

JOB DESCRIPTION:

8.30-5, M-F...1 hour lunch...3 weeks vacation from teh day you start, you do not need to accrue them. 3 emergency/personal days...
We can play on line when we are not busy. I often find myself making shopping lists and
playing Mah Jong Solitaire...we are dead. I do a quarter of teh work I did at my last position...

Ok, so today at lunch time I went to see my manager. We were ordering in food. We were talking and kidding around in his office, and when I came out, teh other girl gave me teh look of death. Now I am 28, she is 35...
The manager tries to involve her in the conversation and she gives him teh cold shoulder. After he goes back in his office, she gives me an attitude, AND THEM SHE EXPLODES!

'I just wanted you to know that before you came, I was the QUEEN here. I had a great relationship with Patrick. He was my friend, we used to talk about personal stuff all of teh time. Now he treats me like dirt. He gives you all of the projects to do for him and takes work away from me...(wasn;t that why I was hired, to alleviate all of teh work she had???)
That's teh problem with this company, when teh hire a new person, teh otehr person gets replaced.' SHe admitted she was jealous, and spent teh rest of teh day on teh phone, I am pretty suer she was calling for interviews.

***???? It's not like I sit around doing nothing all day, I am just used to being extremely busy so I am still on overdrive form my last place. She doesn't realize how great she has it there. We order breakfast everyday, we never stay late? We kid around all day. Then she adds at the end, it's not me, it's our boss she is upset with...

Here's teh clincher....teh only other person that has ever worked with here was fired...yes, you guessed it. 'She and ______ didn;t get along...' One of the other places that I interviewed with called me on Friday about an opening that wanted me for. Should I try my luck and leave, or stay and stick it out. SHe was possessed today... I feel really badly for her though. She is really upset over this.

I don't think whether you take the new jobshould have anything to do with this girl. If the other job is a better offer or has the potential to be more rewarding than you should take it. If you're happy where you are then stay put. Don't let anyone ever chase you away from something you want. I know it can be frustrating to work with someone like that, so good luck and keep us posted!

She has admitted she is jealous!!
The fact is that she feels extremely threatened by you!!! And she said 'I was the queen'-----someone needs to put a stop to this behavior. She needs a reality check big-time. She's 35?? Well, she has a lot of growing up to do.

If you really like this place, STAY! Don't let this broad push you around or make you feel uncomfortable.

As a side note.....you look awesome for 28!!! Not that that is old at all, but........
I remember seeing pics of you on here & your wedding pics and I thought you were probably a little younger than me! (I just turned 24!)

Thank you for the compliment!!!!!! Awe! Yes, I even get ID for lottery tickets. But I can not work under these conditions. I guess ignorance IS bliss, I was so happy until I found out what was going on!

Sorry, not right now!

I just felt like I was being smacked. :( I felt belittled. Odd conversation to have with a person.

I totally agree. Also, I might have an off the record conversation with my boss - her behavior is very inappropriate and you can tell your manager that you are just letting him know about it b/c you heard why the last person was fired. Just be matter of fact, and keep it short, you want to project maturity and calm - the opposite of her ranting. Good luck! She sounds like a real lunatic!

I was hoping she would go home, get a good night sleep and come back normal...lets see what happens. My manager will be out until Thursday so I have to deal with it until then.

I definelty feel your pain. where i work there is a similar situation b/w me & the girl i work with, not for, with. she thinks she runs the show, and i just don't listen to her. to moody, cranky, spoiled...just don't listen to her. she just wants to start drama, let her go elsewhere. hang in there

I would talk to your boss about this. The way she acted was unprofessional and rude. She owes you an apology.

I'd poison her coffee with arsenic and be done with it.

I would definitely keep records on this woman...she sounds like the type to try to sabotage you...but don't worry too much, just don't trust her any and CYA!!!

Re: Worst day of work, EVER!

SO today she apoligized in a way. SHe said that it wasn;t me she was upset with, it was him. SHe called herself spolied and territorial and here is teh best part...she said that our manager has an obvious crush on me...hello! We are both happily married. When I tried to explain this, she was like WHATEVER... Just lovely... Atleast she admitted that she had issues?
