Ok, So today FH and I set out to Long Island to see Riviera and Crest hollow Country Club. I had already seen Crest Hollow but FH did not. We went in there ready to love it and book it. Our BM that we dealt with originally was not there but today was the only day we had to head out there. We met with Leo who I thought would be great due to recommendations on here but he wasn't. Everything that Sharon had told us was ok he said was not. She told us 120 min on a saturday night he said no way. He then said he needed to make 'call' to his supervisor to see if he could do the 120 which he came back and said he could do it but gave us a date we didn't ask for. He then proceeded to throw out crazy prices for other things which we were ok with until he said he would be charging us a $500 outdoor cocktail hour fee!!!!! i've been to over 15 places and this is a first i've ever heard this bull. Has anyone else had to pay this? He told us he wouldn't know where our ceremony would be held we would have to wait till the day came. He made us feel so low. and why is that? because we didn't have a party of 150 - 200 or more guest? i'm so pissed off. I've been to so many places and dealt with all kinds of people. There have been BM's that make you feel good and want to make you feel at ease and seem appreciative that we have even considered wanting to have our wedding there! FH composed himself but he was feeling majorly hostile and so was I. I have never EVER felt so insulted. He made us feel like our money wasn't worth anything to them because we were a smaller party. He was so robotic. I guess that's what happens when you deal with a big venue like that. Its either you have loads of money and lots of guests or you mean nothing otherwise. its a damn damn shame!
On another note we went to Riviera in Massapequa and dealt with Victoria who was GREAT! She could teach these people at CHCC a lesson in hospitality!

Re: Worst Experience....
We did. FH was like you know what NO THANK YOU. he was ready to reach over the table and pound on the guy. He told him - 'I guess we don't mean _____ unless we have a huge guest list. otherwise you could care less' BM didn't say a word he just nodded and ripped up the paper. As if his job of getting us out of there was done.

Re: Worst Experience....
Wow! I'm so sorry. That's terrible!! You should definately write them a letter and tell them that based on that alone, you will not even consider booking with them or even recommending them to anybody and that you will spread the word about your experience. As far as outdoor fee that is complete bull! I have never ever heard of such a thing! Aaaand, is this guy f-ing kidding about not knowing where ceremony would be til day of. Sounds extremely flakey!! What is he new to the world?? I don't know anyone that would ever find that acceptable. Soooo wack!!

Re: Worst Experience....
When I went to lombardis on the sound the lady was trying to convince me to get married in a church b.c they dont have an indoor ceremony I guess and my wedding is in nov. I was like I want to get married at the RH so please stop trying to convince me otherwise. I was soo annoyed. That and the stains on the ceilings convinced me that I will deff not be having my wedding there.

Re: Worst Experience....
I feel so angry because i've seen SO many places. And while i've seen beautiful places I didn't feel that ok this is it factor. I liked this place alot it was the first place i truly liked enough to book and be excited about. SO i'm pissed that the feeling was ruined by such ...... I can't even find the word..... I guess it just wasn't the right place for us.

Re: Worst Experience....
I didnt have a great experience at some RHs,. a lot of them only care about big weddings. A few flat out said 'sorry we dont accommodate weddings of less than 100 people' (Riviera told me this). Meanwhile I found other LIW brides who had 75 guests at the same RH so I knew the RH was flat out lying to me.
Didn't have a good exp at V.erdi's of Westbury. The guy kept us waiting for 20 min then gives us a sheet of paper with prices on it, waves us off and gives us his business card...apparently he had other guests that were more important than we were.
I am really not surprised..Some RH's have really ignorant staff that tend to make snap judgments about you based on appearance, speech and its to their detriment because they lose out on business that way.

you'll find something better AND the people will be nice to you there
ps: i agree with the other poster - 120 min is not TOO small that they shouldn't want your business ... money is money!!!

OMG I am so sorry that happened. I would have been soooo mad I probably would have started crying and then just made myself look like an idiot. hahah Good for you guys for getting up and walking out though. Even though you thought this place was perfect it obviously was not and you wouldn't want to put your money into an establishment that is so nasty.

So sorry for the bad experience That is just inexcusable
Check out Smithtown Landing...Donna and Rich are incredible and are truly willing to work with you. I have a small wedding, about 100, and I was able to get a Saturday night in September for a great price...they're amazing.

Re: Worst Experience....
I'm sorry this happened to you
First: If you met with Sharon first, she didn't write all the info out for you on a sheet? She's my BM and when we met with her the first time, she wrote all the info down and the sheet said that the quote was good for 30 days from the date the quote was made.
Second: I've heard of them saying this about the outdoor CH. When I met with Sharon, she said we had the option of doing the CH outside if we wanted to and we could decide the day of depending on the weather. She didn't say anything to me about cost, but I've read posts the past few days where new brides that were booking at CHCC had been charged the $500 fee. I think they just redid the outside, so they're probably trying to get some money for it.
Third: Anywhere you go they are going to throw crazy prices out at you for some things - one RH we went to wanted to charge us $25pp extra for a Viennese hour! Another RH wanted $500 for an ice sculpture. You just have to negotiate those things OUT of your contract. Unfortunately because your wedding is on the smaller end, they have less of an incentive to book with you, but that shouldn't mean that they're rude to you.
We booked with Sharon at CHCC and have had nothing but good experiences with her so far. Will let you know if any of that changes!

OMG i am soo sorry that happened to you but dont be upset is isnt just you. they told us the same thing about our cocktail hour its $500 for out doors, and if it was inside they wouldnt be able to tell us to like that day or at least closer to it. its not any thing about your guest or anything its just the way they run things. I feel so bad that i told you to go to Leo is was super nice to us. Do you have anything writen from that women sharon telling you that you can do 125 on a saturday.
