So, i have 8th grade for my student teaching placement..

well, a student that I have, 13 years old, hung herself yesterday!

im in shock about it! how can your life be so bad at 13 that you need to end it?!?!

it was an awfulll day at school...kids crying...kids looked like they wanted to cry...awkward silences...

blahhh

It is so sad that someone so young would feel badly enough to take her own life. I think you should go to pay your respects. Don't call it 'just student teaching' either...all teachers have to go through it and you make just as much impact as their permanent school teacher.

OMG!!! that is crazy... year after year I am more amazed at the things middle schoolers do...

I am a 7th grade math teacher...

Remember the good days outweigh the bad ones...

It's too bad that this innocent students need to feel that pain.

Be strong!! You can do it.
I would go to the wake. Go early in the viewing. You don't even have to go up to see her. Bring a sympathy card for her family. Sit and say a few quiet things in your head and get out of there!

Depending on when/where, I'd go with you if you wanted. Just having someone there could make it easier for you.

i'm so sorry to hear this. I am in my 2nd year as a teaching assistant for the 6th grade while i am working on my masters and last year i had one 12 year old student tell me and only me 2x (on separate occasions) and he thought about killing himself. Supposedly he is ok now and i still see him and he knows to come to me if there is anything he needs to talk about but its so sad that these kids think they have no way out. I would go to pay your respects but u don't have to stay long if u are uncomfortable.
