Worst thing imaginable-UPDATE

Worst thing imaginable-UPDATE

I found out yesterday that someone got a hold of my ATM card number and pin (i did't lose it and no one stole it, I still have the card in my possession). But to add insult to injury, not only did they get away with money, it was from the wedding account! Although I am insured and the money goes back, I feel absolutely helpless and violated!
I have spent all day contacting every agency under the sun to make sure that I am not an identity theft case!
So my advise to you from this experience:
-Do not use mom and pop ATMs (they could have a scanner attached to them)
-Change your pin number every 6 months or so
-be careful when entering your pin number anywhere, you never know who is watching you

I hope that this never ever happens to any of you, it totally s*cks. I hope they catch these people, but I am sure that they were long gone as soon as my account was frozen!

Update:
THey put all of themoney back in my account today! Every penny!! Washington Mutual saved Christmas! Thanks for all of the

Oh My, that's horrible. At leased you're insured and it will be replaced, but the aggravation you must be going through. I hope it all works out for you.

Sorry that happened to you.

Nothing makes you feel more vulnerable and just plain then having identity theft. I'd also make sure you get a copy of your credit report from all 3 agencies, to verfiy that no one has opened any accounts in your name and such...if they got a hold of your card and pin...you never know what other information they might have. The cost to get all 3 reports is less than $30...and it will be money well spent.

I totally know how you feel. Over the summer DH's bag was stolen with his wallet in it. Even though I called and cancelled his ATM card somehow the theives were able to take $1900 out of our checking account by using the credit card function (if you have a Visa or Mastercard logo on your card they could do this to you too.) We got our money back in 10 business days but it totally stunk...and happened the day before my birthday!

I'm really sorry this happened to you.

I think that I may switch to your bank! Although I have to say that if it weren't for my bank calling me, they would have gotten away with a lot more than they did

Re: Worst thing imaginable

THAT EXACT thing just happened to my Brother/Sister-n-Law and other Brother. They had all of their money taken out of their bank accounts (last week). They all used their bank cards too and they both went to the same gas station the same day.........from the investigation so far, an employee, that is no loner there, got over 200 people's information through the swipe machine!!!! So MANY are out of money........ :( :(

I feel so bad for you. Hopefully everything turns out well. I just don't understand how people can do this to others.......So sad
