As far as vendors go I think the only issue would be I would get a different MC and wouldn't be able to use the stretch Infiniti I wanted....
Buuuuuuut we're talking about a $13k price difference. If we can swing it, is it worth it or is time of day not that big a deal??? I hate that people keep telling me that people won't dress as nice for a Saturday afternoon wedding because it's not as 'formal' but I don't want people showing up in casual attire... I'm not so worried about my friends and family but more so FH's people bc they're all OOTers.... I've always had a vision of a more formal wedding and now I'm starting to worry...
Or should I save the $13k and put 'Attire will be formal' somewhere on the invitation?

Re: Worth it to switch to a Saturday night????
That's a LOT of money...if I were you I'd just write 'Formal Attire' somewhere on the invitation....think about all you could do with 13k...just to move everything a couple of hours later, to me...that's a huge expense.
ETA: In the end, I don't even think that you'll be caring about what other people are wearing on that day...my coworker had someone show up to her wedding in jeans (can you believe it?). She said in the end she was having so much fun and she was so happy she just rolled her eyes and laughed it off.

Re: Worth it to switch to a Saturday night????
yea, thats like a car . . .
i wouldn't do it. and if you're really worried about people not dressing properly, do add that to your invite . . . but even if it's a wed afternoon its a frikin wedding . . . unless its in a barn i'd dress properly. Heck, i'd even wear a pretty dress to a barn wedding.
edited b/c i used a bad wordd

Think of what you could do with $13K. I don't think switching it is worth it. I have been to Saturday afternoon weddings. The place, the invitatioin give the feel . But put fromal attire on the invitation to be safe. I rather spend that on upgrading the HM or a new car personally.

I dont think $13K was worth it. We switched ours to evening but I think it was less than $2K difference for us.
Save your money.

Re: Worth it to switch to a Saturday night????
i would save your money. the time of day is not really going to make that much of a difference, everyone will be there to celebrate you and your FH no matter what, and 13k is a lot!

13k is a huge price difference. I think that by putting 'Formal Attire' or 'Black Tie' is the best bet. At the end of the day, it people don't know how to dress for a wedding, that's THEIR problem. You will be too overwhelmed with excitement that you won't notice their stupidity.

Re: Worth it to switch to a Saturday night????
OMG I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!
I chose a Saturday afternoon for variety of reasons...price not even being one of them. I wanted to feel like my wedding lasted all day and have a kick@ss after party. I also have 4 flower girls. So I decided on Saturday AM.
Until I joined LIW, I never once thought of afternoon weddings being anymore casual. Or being not having as much fun.
The best example is TWOTY. Think about it- a bunch of girls (INCLUDING YOU!!) wore gowns. It was an amazingly awesome time. Everyone had fun...and it was in the afternoon!! It wasn't even a 'real' wedding and it was still so much fun.
So, save your $13k. A few hours will NOT change how much fun people have at your wedding or what they wear. Getting ready for a wedding, I never once would consider the time of day. I wear what I want and dress just as fancy.

If the price difference was more like $2k, I would say absolutely, but $13k is ALOT of money that you could do so much with. So I would say no.

Re: Worth it to switch to a Saturday night????
As a Sat afternoon girl i say dont change it. People will have just as much fun at a afternoon wedding as a evening wedding. My cousin had a afternoon wedding in Oct and everyone still got dressed up. If you are worried about attire you can always add it to the invitation.13K is alot of money that you can do something else with.
